The Nerd's Playbook

The Nerd's Playbook

Her mouth curved slightly, then she turned away, lighting the butt of a cigarette with careless confidence before disappearing through a side door. Penny exhaled shakily. “I think I just lost five years of my life.” I didn’t respond. My thoughts were already racing ahead, mapping something I didn’t fully understand yet. Three queens. And somehow, without trying, I had already met two of them. As we headed for class, one thought settled heavily in my chest, quiet but insistent. Newton Prep wasn’t just a school. It was a game of chess. I was a pawn. And whether I liked it or not, I had already been placed on the board.

one of them asked and I immediately glared at this gang. “Maybe everything is true and that’s why it happened.” Another commented but they forgot someone is standing near them to hear it. I stopped others when they were about to go and scold them as someone else is here to that and as expected from my idol. “You all go to the library right now and give me a book review for the following books.” She said and started reading out nearly ten books completely startling them. “I need to get the mail by today otherwise there will be other work added tomorrow in the class.” She continued and they immediately rushed back towards the library.

Shattered vows: Revenge of an ex bride

Shattered vows: Revenge of an ex bride

“Send me everything. I want every file. Every contract. Every blood-stained deal she made. If I’m going to finish this… I need to know exactly what I’m walking into.” “You’ll have it,” Preston promised. He closed the laptop and packed the drive, slipping it into a secure pouch. Then he turned toward the window and looked out at the darkened sky. He glanced back at her. It’s time for the next plan, he told himself silently. But he didn’t say what the plan was. Not yet. Because some truths had to be earned. And some storms had to be built in silence.

their Feature Editor second. "Excuse me," Leah said; the room went quiet after hearing her "what was this quarter's theme anyway?" Leah isn't dull as most of Paul's staff, including himself, were led to believe. She knew Spice Publishing caters to most teenage to middle-aged men regarding sexual kinks and women. The contents in each issue are the sexual diaries of the staff and their readers, while the other half were naked photoshoots.

The Price of Peace: Book 3 In The No More Regrets Series

“Respect that.” Stephen looks at our plates. “What the hell y’all eating?” “Poutine,” Tempest says. He squints. “I’m about to get some of that.” “Come on, stink,” Carmen says, grabbing his hand. He groans. “Don’t call me that in public.” I chuckle as they walk off. Then I glance back at Tempest. “You know what?” I say. “Therapy worked.” She tilts her head. “Oh yeah?”

The Past Is Only a Prelude

The Past Is Only a Prelude

Don't leave after work—go to Chuck's place and set up the computer. I studied the chat carefully. Attached was an installation guide from the store, showing a rendered image of the setup and a custom LED panel. The renders were clearly commissioned by Alicia herself. I couldn't help but smirk. My mother tongue was coding, not hardware setups. I was just a keyboard jockey, not a professional PC builder. After preparing my resignation letter, I headed to the office and submitted it to HR. A wave of relief swept over me. Even the office air seemed fresher.

Mason gulped his beer this time. "Duh. What’s with you guys"? Daniel laughed at the antics of his friends. He was aimlessly twirling the bottle on the table. The Wife's Return

The Wife's Return

“Run to her. Talk to her. I don’t know. Just do something.” “There’s not even a reason for her to come here. And can we please eat already?” “You’re going to regret not doing something, Preston.” The most quiet and annoying lunch was done. Preston’s mind was somewhere else, even if he tried throwing random questions here and there. As soon as they finished eating, Belle begged her brother to run after Claudia. That wasn’t as challenging as she thought, because he left the moment she said so. Pile of memories was in a cabinet that looked out of place in that unit. There were old books from when Preston was in law school. There’s a single photo album on there too. It was filled with photos of

Frequently Asked Questions

I bounced around the series myself, started with 'The Hot Zone' which is technically non-fiction but everyone treats it as the intro. That one's a standalone, but it sets the tone for the Preston-verse—the meticulous, almost thriller-like approach to science. After that, I'd hit 'The Cobra Event'. It's a novel, but it reads like a natural progression from 'The Hot Zone', taking that bio-terror fear and cranking it into a fiction scenario.

From there, you can kinda go anywhere. 'Demon in the Freezer' and 'The Panic Virus' are more great non-fiction deep dives into specific topics. I don't think there's a strict 'series order' because they're mostly thematically linked, not a continuous story. Reading 'The Hot Zone' first just gives you the foundational awe (and terror) that colors everything else he writes.
