The book began to flip its pages madly like it did the first time, once Jake had placed it on top of the table in the library. He watched until the book settled down to a certain page. Jake moved closer to the book after making sure nobody else was around. No one was, except for the librarian and not more than five students in his section. At the very top of the page was a drawing. A sketch showing small reddish circle contrasting with the dark shaded background, making the entire thing look like the night sky and a red moon? Moving his eyes from the top of the page, Jake studied the inscriptions below it, all of which were in English.

He said anxiously and walked back towards the table, he had placed a book on while I immediately followed. “When you left yesterday, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was bothering me. I thought about how everything must have an alternative and so I searched about it and found this diagram in this book. Look here…” He said and pointed towards a diagram in an old rusty book. The diagram had a wolf in a center with three elements on the side. The elements were depicting something and they had arrows pointing to that wolf but I couldn’t figure out what it was. “I can’t understand this…” I told him in a clueless manner.

"The one with the big pictures of the lions and the furry bears." "I will get it for you right now, sweetie," I said, reaching up to pull the bright green book from the shelf. I handed it to her, and she immediately gripped the edges, pulling it close to her chest. "What about you, Maple?" I asked, turning to his side of the sofa. Maple set his juice cup carefully on the side table. He pointed his finger toward the small wooden drawer under the television. "I want my big drawing papers. The ones with my dragon pictures."

I was about to leave when I caught sight of something. A sketchbook. What’s a dude like Croix doing with pencils? What kind of things does he draw? Of course he’s a tattoo artist but what things does he draw? I go to the desk and take the sketchbook in my hands. I turned the pages of the book admiring the cartoon figure, the houses, and the streets, among other things but at the last page of the sketchbook is a drawing of me...sleeping. My fingers brushed over the drawing, the naked collarbone and the bare thighs. Faint lead coated my fingertips. It was a recent drawing.

They didn't speak much and so I feel like I should continue my words to break this silence. "I am not that sure about what I am about to say but I've read this in some book I saw in the library. Although the credibility of that book is something I can't guarantee" I sat on the ground and pick up the pencil I had with me. Opening the small book I have, I started to draw on the blank page that is not pure white in color. They just keep silent and let me continue my drawing. "Have you heard about the Heminrey plant?"

She said and I nodded no with a grin on my face. “Why? I really want to see what you are always so busy with.” She said, I nodded calmly. “Okay, I’ll show you a few, some are very personal so I can’t show them to you.” I said and she nodded. I opened the first page of the book, it had a picture of a tree falling apart, it leaves were falling. “What does this drawing mean? When did you make it, it looks very old.” She said and I smiled.

It was the best kind of job for me, I loved it and I got paid weekly, enough to eat, after my first paycheck, I had spent a full week starving, I tried to ask for my money beforehand but my boss who’s the meanest person ever, said no. How could such a cold hearted person be responsible for one of the best places in the world! There was no sleeping with a storm outside, I was up most of the night, I was up early and ready to go to work, I was slipping but pushed it down as I got out of her car and quickly walked over to the bookstore. I walked over to the children's books area, I was thankful no one was around as I sat down in a beanbag after grabbing a few books to read.

I picked it up and took a seat on the bed, before flipping it open. It was filled with… drawings. Drawings so realistic, they told stories better than any picture ever could. A smile curved on my lips at the fact that Asher drew all this. On the first page was the picture of a woman, who reminded me of Jane—or perhaps it was just the fact that she had red hair.. I turned over to the next page. On it was the drawing of a boy, seated in a dark empty space. The third drawing gave me a pause. It was of a woman in a bathtub, her wrist split and blood gushing out of the wound.

She sounds divine to me. "Look," Emma almost whispers. I open my eyes and find the book before me, an illustration of the scene Emma just read on the page. It's in black and white but I still appreciate what the artist is conveying. The character drawn has their features exaggerated and the dark lines around them shows struggle, the pull of magic, the force that no child should face. "That's intense," I say. "Definitely not a children's book."

I muttered. I turned the page again and saw a picture of something I recognized. It was a demon and it looked almost exactly like the ones we saw before, drawn in thick, black lines. Around it was a large circle, but the lines in the circle were too faint and dirty to fully make out what it was. “This isn’t working,” I groaned, sitting back on my knees as I stared to feel an ache in my head, it as if the book itself didn’t want me to read it. “These stupid books are useless.”
