"Are you finished with yours?" "Yeah," he nods and grabs my drawing book which I specially bought for this camp. It was empty except for this one picture. Theo lays it on his lap and takes a good look at my drawing, then takes out his eraser and starts gently rubbing here and there on the page. His own sketchbook lies on the grass beside me. I take it and start looking through his drawings while he modifies or rather redraw my sketch.

There were two stick figures on the paper. The taller stick has long hair and a big smile with very long lashes that expand longer than the ears. While the shorter stick has twig tails and a small smile.

That woman is a witch. I lay on my side, and I noticed the book I had taken from Grandpa's room pecking at the pocket of my bag. I took it out and opened the first page. I chuckled to see that he had drawn a tiny rabbit on top of the letter T. It's a toddler book, so the words are bigger than in normal books. I open the next page, and there's one letter with a rabbit drawn on it again. This time, it is the letter H. The rabbit is cute. I don't know, Grandpa is good at drawing.

Inside, he lit the lamp on the table and pulled open the drawer I’d seen him lock several times before. Inside were old papers. Notebooks. Maps. And a worn book bound in black leather—edges frayed, pages nearly falling out. He opened it. I stepped closer. Drawings. Symbols. Handwritten notes in a sharp, clipped script. “Caspian…?” He turned the book toward me. On the page was a sketch—charcoal and ink—of a woman wreathed in silver fire. She looked like me. Not exactly. But close enough to make my stomach twist.

If this book goes well, for book 2 with Alex's permission I'll release the old old middle school fan art he drew of our boys (it's freaking adorable and actually very impressive for a middle schooler to have drawn).
