Leonidas’s expression softens, Instead of laughing or dismissing me, he reaches out slowly, grabs the book and reads through the words.
“It's an ancient tongue,” he says after a moment. “It's called the Lingua Lunae. It means the moon language.
“Oh,” I mutter, the heat in my cheeks deepening, but relief flickers through me too. “That’s why I couldn’t read it.”
He glances up, catching the sheepish edge in my tone. A small, almost tender smile tugs at the corner of his mouth, the kind that makes my stomach flip despite everything.
“I can help translate,” he finishes before shifting closer on the bench until our shoulders brush.
