-Karen- Conor led me forward as we came to stand several feet away from the desk. We both clasped our hands in front of us. I could see Joanne out the corner of my eye standing next to me standing with her hands clasped in front of her. The doors shut and all four of us bowed to the king murmuring, “Majesty.” We stood back up in unison and waited anxiously for him to speak. Remember to breathe, Karen. Just keep breathing.

As prince Clifford and his wife arrived at the entrance, the door opened and stewards, all dressed, bowed before them. “Welcome Prince and Princess of the Ashanti Kingdom. Andre saw his parents just raised a hand briefly and brought it down and he did the same too. At a distance, precisely at the throne, sat the King and his Queen. When Andre saw them, especially the king, he saw a picture of himself in old age. He knew without being told, that he shared a bond with that old man, sitting on the throne. As they got closer, his parents parted hands and bowed before the king.

It feels like my world has come to a standstill, it feels like my whole life has come to an end. “See that” Bastian grins, “that’s what you get when you refuse me, Adele! All these years…” “I swear you won’t live to say the light of day tomorrow” I swing my sword at him but someone else catches it from behind me and I turn around to see the king, his face taut and expressionless. “You can not harm the king of Drakeswoth” he says before falling to his feet right in front of Bastian. A look of confusion flashes through my face. Why would he kneel in front of his own son?

His face is not giving anything away, but his heart is racing. Please say something… “Bow to your queen.” He commands coldly. I still look away, from the corner of my eyes I see the men go down on one knee and the king himself lowers his head slightly, but all I care about is my mate who is staring at me in a way that is terrifying me…

At the front, the King stood on a raised platform, his presence commanding. Beside him was Rion with Kaelan and Aric standing behind him. I caught Rion's eyes and he gave me a wink. I looked away, feeling heat rushed to my face. Ember nudged me gently but I ignored her. "Today, you prove your worth," the King called out, his voice deep and resonant. "Only those who show strength, skill, and courage will earn the right to bear arms for our kingdom." His eyes scanned the crowd, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. This was it—our moment to shine.

“Long live the King and Queen!” “Long live the King and Queen!” The shouts echoed across the hall, and shivers rushed through me. Then, like a wave, the nobles lowered to their knees, placing one fist on their hearts and bowing their heads. My breath caught in my throat. “See?” Kaan whispered in my ear. “I told you that you'd bring them all to their knees.” He leaned closer and nibbled on my earlobe. “You can easily bring your King to his knees if you want to.”

And Valerie saw it, she barely glanced at us. Edgar crowned himself king before the whole pack. Everyone bowed to him immediately. I could see him smile from where I stood. He turned to us and the smile disappeared almost immediately, "Kneel" he said with gritted teeth. "Kings don't kneel before Kings!" Grey growled at him "Kneel" he said, bringing out his fangs. "Make me!" I said, he moved closer to me, and stuck his fangs deep into my chest. I looked at Valerie her expression didn't change. It's like she wanted this to happen.

Alexander clears his throat which catches every one’s attention – they quickly form a straight line and bow their heads in submission. “Good afternoon sire…What can we do for you today?” the eldest looking chef asks his King. I can notice that he way older than the rest , as he has plenty wrinkles on his forehead and cheeks – his hands look weak and talented and his shoulders hunch a bit due to the lack of energy. “ Everyone , I would like to introduce you to my soon to be wife , Rosemary.” He looks at me , smiling proudly – my stomach swarms with frightened butterflies as he introduces me as his wife. I watch everyone bow before me.

The air shifted the moment the door creaked open. Silence fell like a shroud, heavy and suffocating, and every man in the room rose to his feet. Their eyes flicked to the entrance, and in unison, they straightened their suits, stiffened their shoulders, and bowed their heads in reverence. The Ice King had arrived.

He whispered as he ushered beta O'Horan to stop moving. "Yes it is." Beta O'Horan nodded. "I am gonna do this, just watch me." The king said excitedly, bringing out his bow and arrows. King Johannes raised his bow and expertly aimed at a deer in the distance. His piercing fiery eyes followed the graceful creature as it grazed peacefully. Little did he know, danger lurked in the shadows. Meanwhile, O'Horan kept a watchful eye on their surroundings. His muscular frame made him a formidable opponent, always ready to protect his king. As they ventured deeper into the woods, he couldn't feel elated for helping the king bring back his real self.
