The Hunter shrieked, its humanoid form flickering, core unstable, energy surging unpredictably. We pressed forward, every strike coordinated, every movement a dance of survival and fury. My wolf surged, claws ripping, teeth sinking, energy spiraling outward in a living weapon. The Hunter’s core pulsed violently, splitting into multiple fragments, each one more powerful than before. It’s adapting faster than we can fight! Azrael shouted. We focused on the largest fragment, the core. Energy surged, claws striking, bond flaring. Each hit caused sparks to erupt, sending debris flying. The forest trembled under the sheer force.

At last, Ganzorig ran into a dead end; a wall that was much too high and smooth to scale. “All right you got me,” the bounty hunter said, breathing heavily. He bent over and placed both hands on his knees. “I give up.” As he straightened, Ganzorig released a metsubushi from his left hand. The eye-closer was just like what Sasha endured when fighting the Ayakashi. The only difference was, instead of being blown out of a small perma-ice box, Ganzorig’s was packed in a hollowed-out egg shell. The projectile hurtled towards Temujin carrying its blinding contents: sand, bits of glass and ground pepper.

She rolled, ducked, and weaved through its relentless assault, retaliating with precise strikes from her silver blade. The serpent's scales bled black venom, staining the ground beneath them, but Edna refused to yield. Belial, witnessing the hunter's tenacity, grew frustrated. She summoned more serpents, their numbers overwhelming. Yet, Edna fought on, her movements fluid and purposeful. With every serpent she dispatched, she grew closer to her goal. Finally, with a mighty swing of her blade, Edna severed the head of the colossal serpent, its lifeless body collapsing to the ground with an earth-shaking thud. The room fell into an eerie silence, broken only by the sound of Edna's labored brea

I noticed the areas infested with worms and dug my claws into them, making his body recoil violently. Enraged, Hunter roared. I placed Rigan in a corner near a rock and launched myself back into direct combat. The sounds of battle echoed through the clearing. I roared again when I saw Hunter try to rush toward the pup. I positioned myself as a shield, but his poisoned claws plunged into my abdomen. Roaring in pain, I grabbed his hand, holding it in place, and with a brutal strike, I drove my fist into his chest, tearing open a hole in his rotting, half-decayed flesh. I ripped out Dante’s heart—the body possessed by Hunter.

I assured him. “Again, can’t wait.” He sarcastically said, but I could’ve sworn there was a glint of relief in his eyes. “Enough of this gushy talk, tell me, how do you feel?” “Normal.” “Ok, good start. Come smell me.” Max asked, sticking his neck up for me. I took a whiff, sandalwood, but this time I sneezed at the smell. “Perfect. You're cured for the time being. Now let me go find a way to get rid of these urges for the beast, but not the beast’s sister.” Max began walking out mumbling something along the lines of, “can’t live with um, especially when they don’t let you kill the one thing that could ruin our clan.”

Hoping that killed him, she turned her attention to the last hunter. The hunter looked at his fallen comrade, then at Belle he gave a shout. He advanced with a battle cry, cracking all of his broken bones in place. Oh shit that was not what I needed to know! Coming at her with more of the fast speed she was used to, Belle got on the ground and kicked with more force, breaking his back as she did it. The hunter got back up, walking at a angle indicating broken bones. Belle's eyes got wide. What the hell, is he some type of zombie. Coming at her with speed once more she heard another voice she hadn't heard in a while

He manages to get a lethal punch in, a hit that would have broken a normal man’s jaw. But Hunter doesn’t seem to be normal. He’s way too drunk on danger, on adrenaline. He laughs and spits out a couple of teeth, head-butting Andrew who staggers back. But that tactic also seems to put him in a bit of a daze too, because he stumbles back and Zane kicks his groin. Hunter is still holding the rifle, but he seems to be fading. I’m not here to wait on that slim chance. I emerge from the boxes and aim the gun at Hunter.

But suddenly, his body curled up once again, his arms clutching his stomach tightly this time around, rocking his body back and forth as he hissed in pain. I frowned, my face darkening as I stared at not his face, but his scent. Something had shifted in it again, this time thicker, more raw and sweeter and it literally made me go insane. My frown deepened without having to shift my gaze, I roared out. “Get the old healer, immediately!” After about three minutes, a guard walked in, bowing. “The healer isn't available right now. Her assistant said she travelled and would return next two weeks”

Finally, with one last desperate attempt to break free, the brute collapsed, lifeless. Hunter stepped off the brute’s back, his breathing heavy but controlled. He kicked the body aside, sending it sprawling to the ground. Then, he turned his gaze to Giovanni’s group. For a moment, Giovanni froze, his smirk fading as he caught sight of Hunter’s face. His eyes had changed—now glowing with a striking golden hue, tinged with emerald, burning with fury. Despite the punishment he had endured earlier, Hunter stood tall, his presence commanding and unbroken.

He is standing with his back turned against me, his eyes trained on the other person. I focus on him instead. He looks stunned, his eyes widened, and his lips parted. “That is impossible,” he mutters, shaking his head. “That veil hasn’t been breached in years. Who could have…” “Only one breed,” he drawls. “Hunters.” “Shit!” I didn’t think they were going to figure it out so fast. My breath hitches in my throat when he angles his head a fraction, when everything suddenly stops, as if he can sense me.
