I said, lifting his head up to look at me but he kept them shut. “Look at me,” I said gently. “Ace, look at me.” He still didn’t look at me. “Okay,” I whispered. “Then listen. We’re going to breathe together okay?” I inhaled slowly. “In… one… two… three…” then exhaled, “Out… one… two… three…” I repeated it though his breath was still distressed. But after a few moments, they started to slow down. “You're doing great,” I whispered. “You’re doing so well.”

Breathing the same air. My pulse thundering. Her lips parted…just then… BANG.

“You can’t call me that.” “I just did.” He leaned over me. “Hands on your ribs.” I lifted my hands awkwardly to my sides. “No,” he murmured, and his fingers brushed mine, positioning them lower. “Here. Feel what moves.” I tried to breathe, but it came out shallow. He noticed. “Exhale slowly through your mouth.” I obeyed, lips parting. The sound left me soft, shaky. “Again. In through the nose. Fill the ribs. Feel them expand into your palms. Slower.” He paused. “Good. And exhale.”

“I can’t breathe. Alex, I can’t.” “You can,” I insisted, forcing a calm I didn’t feel. I needed to be strong for him, to push down my own fears and frustrations. “Look at me, Liam. Focus on me.” Slowly, he opened his eyes, his chest heaving as he tried to mimic my slow, measured breaths. I counted aloud, each number a lifeline. “In for one... two... three... hold... out for three... two... one.” His breathing faltered, but he tried again, a strained whimper escaping him as he struggled to match the rhythm. I kept my voice steady, counting over and over until the panic began to ebb, leaving him exhausted and shivering.

"Baby, concentrate on the sound of my voice. Can you do that for me?" I heard her hum through her soft cries. "That's good baby, that's great. Now breathe with me. In and out, in and out." I could hear her shaky breath as she exhaled with me. "That's it. In through your nose and out through your mouth." She followed along with me until we could both hear her breathing properly. My heart was churning in my chest as I burned to hear what that man had done to her.

“Everything is so loud.” “Focus on breathing,” he says. His voice is quieter now, though still harsh. But for some reason, his volume doesn't hurt me. “Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Come on, let me hear you.” He rests his jaw gently against my head, his arms tight around me. I shut my eyes and try to follow his lead. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe—

I screamed as I waved my hands frantically to the crowd. I crouched down and tried speaking to her in a calm voice. "Hi, honey. My name is Rheya. Are you okay?” She didn’t respond but kept rocking herself. She must be really frightened. “Are you like me? Sometimes crowded places make me really nervous,” I continued. She remained silent but raised her head and nodded. Yes, finally, a response! “I know a trick that helps; do you wanna try it with me?” She nodded tearfully. “Okay, breathe like me. Let’s take a deep breath. We did some breathing exercises together, and after a little while, her breathing was calm. Her eyes stayed fixated on me.

My heart beats so fast and im running out of breath. "Ah-ah! Na-na. Ahhhhh!" I screamed. //Bless you! 🥰
