I cross my arms over my chest as I glare at him, waiting for the inevitable.
"I think there's a misunderstanding. The reason stallions and deer don't mate isn't because of us. We were told that the male deer of the herd wouldn't let the females mate with us because they didn't want us mixing with their species. We've been mated to many female deer, but always get rejected." I look at Eli in disbelief. I didn't grow up in a herd like most deer because my dad was killed, and my mom didn't want me, so as soon as I was old enough, she pushed me out of the herd. I was twelve at the time and had just had my first shift.
