Briar Reef isnÕt the big city where people minded their own. Why just from her investigation this morning she knew firsthand how the people here stuck their noses in everyone elseÕs business. The neighbors were a font of information on Melissa SherryÕs comings and goings. They did everything but give her exact times and dates, and some of them came close.

I start walking back into the direction of the trees until I lost sight of the grass path and Penny and Wade. “Kil!” Penny shouts. I can’t see her and I can’t hear her well. I sit down beside a tree and reach for my phone inside my hoodie pocket. I grab it and open the back. I grab a razor blade and look at it. I feel nothing. I press it into my wrist until it bleeds, I can’t feel it I just see blood. I pull it towards me then I do the other wrist. Still it feels numb. Then I put it to my neck and drag it across, blood follows. I just sit and wait. I can hear Penny and Wade shouting me but I can’t answer. I close my eyes and waited.

I groaned “ Sorry boss, they were arguing how much it would hurt if I fell off the roof.” Noah whines “ I don’t care what you three was arguing about, we need to go!” I commanded They all race to the car. Nio stood still, waiting for the attack, when several goblin archers on the barricades shouted: "Sunbringer, that's the Sunbringer." The shout spread among the crowd and while some called him by his new nickname, others shouted: "King slayer!" The shamans at the barricades hesitated. That hesitation gave Shieena just enough time to yell: “I am bringing home your brothers and sisters, all of them former prisoners from Canestor. I bring with me the Sunbringer, killer of the dwarf king. You will not use force against us. If you do, he will destroy you with his terrible black magic. He will rain terror and death upon you!”

After reporting, the two men hurriedly left the tent. Briar looked unusually worn out, dark circles under his eyes, his face ashen and clearly more gaunt than before. He didn’t even notice when two people had entered the tent. Raina approached him with Gale still in her arms. Hearing footsteps, Briar assumed it was another report and closed his eyes wearily, pressing his fingers against his temples. Without looking up, he said weakly, “What now?” Raina walked to the seat opposite him, set Gale down on the chair beside her, and sat down herself. With a smile, she said, “Senior, you’re really busy, huh? Your junior sister came and you didn’t even spare a glance.”

The car came to a halt. I pushed the car wide open and stepped out. Briar was standing right outside the house with a glass of wine. I walked over to her. “You do realize Theo is going to figure out your lies if he catches you drinking.” She smirked. “I know. I am so sick of pretending.” My voice was low. “Then end it. End all of this now!” Briar rolled her eyes in irritation and gulped down her drink. “I am not going to leave and let all of the work I have done here go to waste, Vianne. I am going to achieve my goals and it is going to be soon.”

The next man stepped out and he seemed to be a teenager at most nnineteen to twenty one years old with watchful eyes and long jet black hair that was tied in a low bun. “Haruki, Japan.” The third in line stepped out. He had short brown hair and brown eyes with a scar that ran from his left ear to his jaw and was also inked with tattoos to his neck. “Alexei, Russia.” The last on the line was a female.
