"He? Do you think my brother is an Alpha? He's an outcast, Azzianna. He's a biker who lives on the land with criminals. He doesn't carry anything. He doesn't have anything." Lucian finally moved. He let go of my hand and took a step toward Julian. Lucian was taller, and his shadow enveloped Julian completely. The air around Lucian was hot, like a furnace. He wasn’t just any man; he was a predator who had spent years existing among them.

Long black nails and fangs appeared again. "I won't hesitate to crush you to dust. It will be easier for me to kill you since you're an outcast!" "Fuck you!" Adrian struggled to free himself from the man's grip. The mysterious man then threw Adrian's body to the ground. "You should be grateful for this. You should have died! Unfortunately, you became an outcast because you disrupted my ritual last night," the man grabbed Adrian's body and slammed him against the wall, "outcasts are the lowest tier of vampires. Blood and night are your life. Your body will crumble if you don't follow your desire to consume blood."

The force knocked the air from my lungs as I hit the ground, my arms wrenched behind me in an instant. “The rogue is here!” he barked. Within seconds, three more warriors had materialized and closed the circle. I looked up at four faces, all wearing identical expressions of suspicion. “I’m not a rogue!” I snapped, struggling against his grip. “I’m Lynn’s sister, and Amanda’s roommate. A rogue took me from Alpha Adrian, but I escaped. Take me to your alpha, or to Amanda.” “That’s a convenient story!” “Do you expect us to believe that?” one of them scoffed, circling closer. “You reek of rogue.”

They ate and then began talking getting to know each other. Nicholas then asked about why they were living in such a place. "Well our parents were killed by some street gangster. And well that was it, we had to move away to find shelter and money to keep us going, that's why Cole and I have been stealing for a living and we've gotten really good at it." Adrian said. "Didn't you all report to the officials so they take care of those who carried out such wicked acts?" Nicholas asked. "Haha... you think we haven't tried? The officials are scared for their lives as well. They don't want to do anything." He retorted.

“You’ve got some fucking nerve showing up here.” Damien didn’t flinch. He met Marcus’s glare head-on. “I know. I deserve whatever you want to throw at me.” Marcus took a step forward, fists clenched. “Five years, Damien. Five years you let my sister raise your son alone after you called him a bastard and told her to leave the country. You broke her. You broke our friendship. And now you think you can just walk back in like nothing happened?” Elena stepped between them, placing a hand on her brother’s chest. “Marcus, stop. This isn’t helping.”

Each word was a dagger, sharpened by years of disappointment—not just from my classmates, but from the entire pack. I wasn’t just an outcast. I was an embarrassment. I kept walking, chin up, even though my chest tightened with the familiar ache of being unwanted. It wasn’t just school— I felt it at home, too. Once, I had been someone’s world. My father had never looked at me like I was broken. He used to tuck me into his arms, brushing his calloused fingers over my hair, whispering, “It’ll come, little wolf. Some take longer.”

I was a sucker for pretty faces. The only reason I agreed to date Isabelle was because she was passable-looking as partner material. It had only been a few days since junior year started when my roommate came over to me and awkwardly said, "Damian, I just spotted your girlfriend getting pretty close to that well-known broke pretty boy by the campus lake." I immediately rolled up my sleeves and rushed toward the lake. From a distance, I saw Isabelle standing very close to a slim young man. But the moment I got a good look at his face, I froze. "Damn! This guy was insanely handsome!" He was so good-looking that even I, as another guy, was jealous. Isabelle frowned and stepped in front of me.

I just want to keep feeling heady like I can float at any moment, nature just has a way of making life feel a little bit more bearable. For a place that is said to be filled with outcasts, ex-convicts and hardened criminals, the Outland is surprisingly safe.
