His scream still echoed in my head as I hurried up the steps, each step a new wave of panic.
When I reached Charles' room, the scene before me made my blood run cold. Bruce was standing still, his eyes wide, staring at the ground.
And there, in the middle of the room, was Charles' body. Extended, pale, and lifeless. Blood ran from a head wound, staining the expensive carpet a deep red. The smell of death and cold coffee mixed with the heavy air of the room, and I felt bile rise in my throat.
Bruce didn't move. He was paralyzed, his eyes glued to his own father's corpse.
