“You have my phone." I breathe heavily and mentally chanted to myself that I need to relax because it’s only going to give me pimples. I should not waste much time on people who has absolutely no plans in life but to prank call someone this late. “Hello?” I hear him calling out. I breathe out through my parted lips, "Is this some kind of a prank call because I am literally not buying it." I arch my eyebrow at no one. "As much as I want this to be a prank but it's actually not." He answers, calmly again.

"Who are you calling?" "My peace of mind," Craig said, Gregory was surprised since when does Craig know how to talk about romance, he turned it to video call, and Cathy finally picked up. "Why are you calling me?" Craig smile. "You asked if I am fine, I want to show you that I am fine." "Okay, good night."

“You can just call 911 yourself. I'm too busy to stay with you.” She burst into profanities, calling me heartless.

ZARA “Why is Ryan calling you?” I asked Mia in shock. “I’m as confused as you are,” Mia replied. I pressed the green button, answered the call, and put it on the loudspeaker. I allowed him to speak before uttering a word. “Hey, Mia. Do you have a minute?” Ryan said in a calm tone. He wasn’t as agitated as usual. I placed the phone close to Mia and asked her to respond. “Now why are you calling me, you crazy man?” she groaned into the phone.

I turned my gaze back to Thaddeus, who was leaning in, his breath hot against my ear. "You say I'm boring, Thaddeus?" I let out a soft, mocking chuckle that stopped him in his tracks. "That’s a curious word coming from a man who can’t even stay upright without a bottle in his hand. You didn't cheat because I was boring. You cheated because you’re a weak, hollow boy who couldn't handle a woman with a soul. You needed those nameless tramps because they were the only ones who couldn't afford to laugh at your... inadequacies."

Zak called my name softly. “Hmm?” I made a questioning sound. “I’m about to say something pretty crazy, but will you hear me out?” Zak asked as he stared deeply in to my eyes. “…Sure…” I replied. Whatever it was that Zak wanted to tell me, I’ll always hear him out. If Zak was referring to it as pretty crazy then it must be out-of-this-world crazy because I knew that on normal people’s standards, Zak was an ultra-handsome yet super crazy person.

Why admit something that sweet to me in the middle of this crazy situation? “I might just be obsessed with yours too, Dane. Kiss me as much as you want.” “I will abuse that.” “I'm also crazy too. You're not the only crazy one.” I wanted to relate to his personality so bad, I was going to say anything. “Amelia…you're not crazy. I assure you. You don't know crazy. You haven't seen it so shut your mouth. You're just a little girl.” I hated that. It made me so mad so I snapped.

Too bad. I sighed and dialed her number again and then for a third time after which she picked. The urge to cry out and tell her all my troubles overwhelmed me as I brought the phone to my ear, but all the fifteen years of training that I'd gone through with my parents before they passed held me and kept me calm. Plus why wasn't she saying anything. “Promise, were you asleep?” I asked gently into the phone even though I knew that if I was the regular human, then Promise was the bat, the very nightcrawler of our friendship.
