Gavin’s voice cut through the din, oily and triumphant, amplified by some trick of the sigils. “Tomorrow, she comes!” he called, his words carrying over the valley. “Keira will be brought to Hollow Oak, and her spark will awaken the forge. The metal will rise, and our enemies will burn!”
The camp roared, some cheering, others shouting in fear. My heart sank, the wound in my arm pulsing in time with my dread. Tomorrow. Not days, not hours, tomorrow.
