As it comes around the corner, I can see that it’s one of the trucks from the compound. The truck parks and Mitch steps out. Just him, no one else. I knew I should’ve turned my phone off but didn’t in case there was news of Ophelia. He doesn’t say anything as he walks over and sits down on the back of the tailgate next to me. I bring the bottle to my mouth, take a sip, then hand it to Mitch. He drinks some and hands it back to me. “It’s beautiful out here,” he said, breaking the silence between us.

"A Luna who does that and does not care for pups or mothers of the pack... is that what they deserve?" Jones clenched his jaw, unable to respond. After a few silent seconds, he growled. "You think you know it all, don't you?" Mitch smirked. "I do know a lot of things," He said, standing up and walking to the window. He looked at the open skies, missing the snowy mountains and high peaks that he was familiar with. "Homesick?" Jones asked. Mitch snorted to mask his feelings. The door opened, and he turned to see Rick walking in with a grin plastered on his face.

But there will be time for emotions later. “Our army may not be as big, but it’s pretty pissed off and I’ll take that bet any day,” I say, flinging my thumb at the door. He raises his eyebrow in question as Mitch comes in. “What army,” he questions. “Dakota had the vision, but the rest of us made it a reality,” Mitch says, grinning as if he had anything to do with it. I roll my eyes but get to my feet and hold out my hand. It takes some doing, but Mitch and I shoulder his weight between us and basically carry him outside.

My God, she thought, then whipped her head up to face Mitzy. She was gone. When Mitch picked up his phone and heard Hopkins’s voice, he sagged with a rush of relief. “Where the hell have you been?” “Hello to you too.” Hopkins laughed. “And I always thought this was so one-sided.” When Mitch didn’t respond with the obvious quip, Hopkins sobered immediately. “What’s the matter?”

"No. Clint was here last night. He had to pick up Abigail this morning, so he left earlier." Karla shot her gaze back to Mitch who just smiled at her. He enjoyed seeing her confused. They'd have to search for the body or convince Damien, somehow, to talk. Mitch's cell phone buzzed. Her fork dropped onto her plate as she listened to his one-sided conversation. Ashley looked up. “Find anything?” Cole shook his head. “Just mud and more bad luck.” “The storm is killing our signal again,” Ace muttered from the monitors. “Half the cameras are down.” Jax leaned against the table. “Yeah, I noticed.” Nolan stopped pacing. “Talk.” “It is Mitch,” Jax said. “He has been acting off. Disappearing between rounds. The south camera is still dead. He claims he didn’t have parts—Ace says otherwise.”
