On the third night, some groups of girls had invited me for a truth to dare. Turns out they really just wanted to set me up with some guy to see if I was good in bed. “Sabrina,” I said, smiling.

I try not to let it bother me, since I know that they will understand once they realize why I needed to back out. We spent the night in a camp ground, we are all feeling a heady mixture of anxiety and excitment. We just want to get to the keep, so we can relax a little. This move is leaving us all out in the open, we are all in survival mode, and it is starting to wear us out. I am in and out of sleep all night, unable to get a restfull nights sleep. I have odd dreams full of very random events, and I wake more comfused then I am rested.

Nothing like staggering through the dark in the middle of the night when I really needed to pee.

They grabbed a few hours of sleep in a motel on the outskirts of the city, then refreshed themselves with showers before continuing the long drive across the western states to the Mojave Desert. The idyll of the first week in our new camp was deceptively peaceful.
