A mated male, while depending on his rank, will not be swayed by any attempt to separate himself from his mate as Lycanthropes are mated for life. As for Alphas-who have been known for their overly extended lifespans-their mates, once claimed, will possess an identical lifespan.

“So that means I have some say, right?” “Yes, of course! But, you have to understand—” “No, Rig. You have to understand. I’m here. I’m your mate. I’m female Alpha. I’m… whatever. And I say, we don’t kill people for figuring out the truth.” I gave her a look, because that wasn’t what I was saying. “No, Cara, we don’t,” I muttered. “But we do remove anything that threatens the life of literally every wolf in existence,” I muttered firmly. “Listen to me, please, because being Alpha isn’t like being class President. No one voted for you, and you didn’t earn them. It’s your God-given role, and that means something.”

I laugh proudly. “ You are clever to follow me. Female wolf can also be the alpha of the pack, but nowadays, it is pretty difficult, so I chose to help your Lord. But you do not need to feel sorry for me because when he gets the alpha, I will be the Luna. I will also lead the pack by then. Although I am more than that, I accept it anyway.”

Valerie hesitantly replied. “The last of lectures for the day, White wolves live in packs as normal. Most packs have forty to ninety members, but the size can range from as few as two wolves to as many as 150. Occasionally their pack can increase to 300 members until some individuals break off to find new territory and form their pack. Within their pack hierarchy, there are male and female hierarchies. The alpha male is dominant over the entire pack, both males and females.… The Alpha female and male are the only ones that breed. Did intel you their female are dominant too, don't mind me.

However, I am over four hundred years old. I have seen many things. Many years ago, the male alphas were the only ones in power. No matter if a female was the firstborn, the first male pup was made alpha. The goddess Astraea didn't like that women could be leaders in other species, but werewolves were living in the dark ages, so she got Selene's approval to change the balance of power within the wolf packs. Astraea chose several wolf packs who weren't powerful and ensured the Alpha and Luna only had a

He inquires, “Do you intend to lead the women of this pack as well as the men?” Color flushes my cheeks as heads turn in my direction. The man was smart enough not to say it outright, but everyone knows he’s talking about my defect. Though Alphas have equal authority over all pack members, their mates are traditionally de facto leaders of the she-wolves. I am not, and I never will be. You cannot lead wolves if you don’t have a wolf of your own. Bastien growls, and the elder shrinks in his seat. “I suggest you retract that question, Counselor.”

I turned to look directly at her, “I think we’ve just been forced to forget that we are all the same species. There isn’t any real reason why all women couldn’t also shift.” “It would be a neat trick if there was a way for all of us to learn whatever your pack seems to have figured out,” she sighed, “but I understand the strategy and politics of keeping pack secrets.” “It’s not some kind of power play,” I frowned at her, “I think that having a female Alpha has just given the women of our pack the ability to empower themselves enough to accept that they can have a wolf of their own without giving up love, or children.” “You really believe that all of us are capable of accomplishing as much as
