Without waiting for him to talk, I dragged him inside his opened apartment. "I never wanted someone like you as my mate. I hate you and I can't bear to be with you. So I am rejecting this bond." I screamed at his face. Without waiting for him to say anything, I uttered those words I knew might cause me pain later on. "I, Donna Anderson, reject you, Miko Magnus as my mate!" I waited for one, two and several seconds, yet he did not say anything. He just looked at me sadly. "You are supposed to reject me too!" I urged him.

my mom replies, then adds softly, “But Ella… I still think what you did to Luca wasn’t fair. You might regret it later.” I shake my head, trying to convince both her and myself. “No, Mom. I won’t regret it. I made the right choice. I don’t love him. I can’t love him.” After what Felix did to me, I promised myself I would never give another man that power over me again. I sent it before I could talk myself out of it. The reply came four days later. A polite, generic rejection. Thank you for your interest, but we are not able to feature your gallery at this time. I wrote a better pitch. I rewrote it three times before sending it, cutting anything that sounded like I was asking for permission rather than offering something worth seeing. Another rejection came, just as polite, just as final. I called Diana, frustrated enough that I didn't bother hiding it. "They're not going to notice me just because I asked nicely twice," I said.

But I also didn’t want to be killed right now. My lips parted as I feigned movement, bringing the meat closer to my mouth but at the last second, I froze. My entire body revolted. His gaze darkened. "Eat it." A lump formed in my throat. I swallowed hard, my fingers trembling around the chunk of flesh. "I can't eat it , I'm a vegetarian", I failed to it and spoke. "This little human thinks , I like being disrespected. First take her in the dungeon, and starve her for three days",

"You have to mark me now, Dion." The emotions I see in his eyes are more than anything I've ever experienced. So I start crying. My body wrecks with deep sobs. "I can't go through this again." I sob. "You all can't do this to me. I can't go through another rejection, please." I look at him, distraught, as he shakes his head, grabs my body, and pulls me in a tight hug.

"I need to know, Gabriel, why did you reject me? Why did you imply I wasn't good enough for you?" Gabriel's eyes flooded with remorse. "It was a mistake, Ethan. A horrible error. I was terrified of what our link signified, of the responsibilities that came with it. I let fear cloud my judgment." Ethan took a step forward, his heart hammering. "And now? What do you want, Gabriel?" Gabriel stretched out, his fingers quivering as it stroked Ethan's face. "I want you. I've realized how empty my life is without you. Please, Ethan, give me a second chance."
