Marley sighed again and got into the car and then they drove off. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Captain stood at a corner and stared at his wrist watch then back at the road. Where was she? Maybe he could tell her everything he found out, though the warning his father gave rang in his head. Captain was still struggling with his thoughts when a black car stopped a few feet from him and Marley got out. He started walking towards her but stopped when he saw who got down from the other side. Anthonio. Their eyes met and a sneer formed on Anthonio's lips.

Inside, sitting on a metal bench, is Captain Hollen. He looks bad. His face is bruised, one eye swollen shut. His uniform has been ripped, his rank insignia torn off. His hands are cuffed to the bench. He looks up as I approach, squinting against the gloom. "Who’s there?" he rasps. "If you’re here to ask me about the Alpha again, you can go to hell." I sling the shotgun over my shoulder and grab the keys hanging from the dead officer’s belt. "I’m not here to ask questions, Hollen," I say softly. "I’m here to answer the call of my people."

said the captain, who has come to address us. “What Mammon has done today should not repeat itself amongst any of the champion. None of you have the right to attack Alpha Killian. No one!” He yelled and turned to look at my direction. “Wipe away that smile on your face woman!” He yelled and my face changed into a frown. The captain approached me and stared into my eyes for a moment, while I looked away from him. “I saw what you did” I turned to look at him and a smirk came to his face.

His gaze remained fixed on me, a mixture of confusion and something else I couldn't quite place flickering in his steel grey eyes. "Chloe, I don't know why he wants you here, but the commissioner is very happy with the arrest and I need you to only ask these written questions to him. Don't go off script. This is a direct order. We need to finish this before his lawyer arrives," My captain barked, his tone harsh and commanding. I nodded obediently, my mind still reeling from the intensity of Carter's stare. I longed for a captain like Captain Holt, someone who exuded calm authority rather than the abrasive demeanor of my superior.

It stretched nearly 25 feet tall, casting an imposing shadow like that of a descending deity. "The captain of the Weber family's guards?" "He's a martial artist on the verge of peak martial lord!" Anan’s POV … The captain laid it out without softening the edges. We were in the small strategy room three days after the presentation disaster, with only the core team sitting around the table—Jones, the older supervisor, two senior officers I trusted, and me. A single photograph sat in the centre of the table, showing a man with cold eyes and the kind of stillness that came from never having to raise his own voice. “He’s careful,” the captain said. “No direct meetings with known associates, and no electronic trails we can use. But he has a pattern with certain types of companions—attractive, submissive in private, and disposable afterwards.”

He wore a nautical outfit, I assumed he was the captain. "Welcome aboard, Mr. and Mrs. Williams!" he said, his deep voice matching his commanding appearance. "I'm James Beckham. I'll be taking you to Crystal Cove. I hope you enjoy the ride!" He gave us a nod, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled, his respectful gaze flicking to me for a brief moment before returning to Carlton. Carlton grunted a terse "thank you" without even looking at the captain, his gaze already drifting off to somewhere else. I forced a weak smile, feeling like I was already stuck in a nightmare.

The captain saw that, finished lighting up, and handed the lighter back: "Thanks, bro." The boss waved his hand, "You're welcome." After saying that, he was just about to get back in the car when the captain went on, "Bro, where are you headed?"

The door was marked “Hearings” “Remember, the first rule for a hearing… never volunteer anything,” she whispered. “Make them drag it out of you.” “Even if I wanna see the guy burn?” She grinned. “Even then… or you just might burn with him.” “Oh, got it.” Our smiles dropped and we entered the room. There were several people in here, mostly Betas and a few of the command staff. Captain Beta sat at the front of the room in a chair facing the audience, his face neutral, but I could see just a bit of shaking in his hands. He didn’t look at either of us as we came in.
