The room where Kaelen and I used to sleep side by side. He set me down on the edge of the bed. My body felt heavy, my muscles aching from the adrenaline crash. Lennox didn’t sit. He stood directly in front of me, crossing his arms over his chest, his expression dark and focused. “I’m going to put together a plan,” he said, his voice dropping an octave. “We’re going to hit them, hard.” I looked up at him, my heart sinking. “Lennox, that’s going to start a war.”

Lennox was very depressed. There was immense resentment in his heart right now towards the intelligence system of Department Six right now. How the hell did they investigate it? How could they have omitted such important information about Waltz being the wife of Divine Cosntabulary’s president’s grandson? This was something that could send them to their death! Although Gill was the Lord Commander’s grandnephew, Geronimo was a big shot who was on the same level as the Lord Commander. Lennox wouldn’t have dared to offend Geronimo just in order to please Gill and get into his good graces, until he was out of his mind.

And there he was. Lennox sat at the end of the long table, dressed now in black pants and a dark shirt rolled slightly at the sleeves. One hand rested lazily against the arm of his chair while the other held a glass of wine. He looked relaxed. Calm. Like the devil himself resting after war. His green eyes lifted to mine the second I entered. And stayed there. Always staring. Always watching me like I belonged to him already. “Sit,” he said simply. I stayed standing.

She was so accustomed to people's fake emotions back at the castle that she could decipher them easily and Lennox was never fake. He was just a morally grey man. The man with such a handsome face that women would drool over him but so sinister and scary deep within that it would leave them traumatized. What she had understood. Lennox has excellent control over the beast inside him. Or perhaps she didn't know his triggers. The space he gave her all this time surely forced her to ponder more on his offer. Lennox was a strong man. The future king of vampires. Having such a strong man as a husband was a dream of many but Violet was conflicted.
