Flight of the cardinal
“We’ve been keeping ourselves busy, but I missed you bringing us trouble with the crown. It’s been too long, Gideon.”
As the rider approached me, I noticed that he was around the same age as me, maybe a few years older. His face was kind and welcoming, and his eyes were a deep shade of blue that reminded me of the ocean. I found myself drawn to their stunning clarity.
Gideon turned toward me and said, “Silas, I present Her Royal Highness, Princess Cressida Cardinal.”
Silas looked at me with his mouth open, and his blue eyes widened. The silence that followed was unsettling, and even the breeze passing through the trees had stopped.
