I swear the cover was blank before. I sighed and handed it off to Hunter. “It must be enchanted or something.” Hunter opened the book. “Who is Captain Rowell ‘The Cruel” Swale?” “I don’t know,” I answered. “Why?” “There’s a story in here about him.”

I swallow hard, feeling his heat through my back instead, and the way his muscly tattooed arm is still across my upper chest possessively. Spying my book laid out without guarding fingers, I snatch it from the counter, yank it against me, duck under his arm and run, but he only catches me around the shoulders with one arm again, almost instantly, and holds me tight,. His other hand prodding in to try and retrieve it childishly. “I hate you.” I sulk and cradle the book firmly against my breasts like a feral beast, wrapping both arms over it to protect it from falling into his devil hands once more, and turning away to shield it.

“Look at this book. And then… tell us what you think.” The photo album was slid across the desk. Clover took it hesitantly, her fingers barely gripping the edges, as though the thing might burn her if she touched it too firmly. Grandma Lola shifted closer beside her, their shoulders brushing. Slowly, Clover opened the album. The moment her eyes landed on the first page, her breath caught violently in her throat. Her hand flew to her mouth as shock rippled through her entire body. There, staring back at her, was a little girl.

Not at all,” Cwena put in mildly, trying hard to hide the look of disbelief at what she could see right before her, on the gathered hay. Turning, they saw Clara approaching, bundled up in her favorite wool coat and carrying a small parcel wrapped in brown paper. “Good morning, you two,” Clara called, her eyes twinkling as she reached them. “I hope I’m not interrupting.” Lillian laughed, reaching out to give Clara a hug. “You could never interrupt. What brings you over so early?” Clara handed them the parcel, her smile soft. “I was cleaning out some old things and found this. I thought it might belong here, with you.” Lillian carefully unwrapped the parcel, revealing a beautifully bound leather book, its cover worn with age. She opened it to find pages filled with notes, sketches, and pressed flowers, each entry dated in neat

I got into the elevator and go to the basement floor just like i was instructed. The elevator opened and now i'm in the basement floor. I'm running towards the exit and keep running until i reach the road full of cars passing by. I’m pretty sure, Karen should've realised my absence by now. I tried to stop any car but each time I failed. Until finally a red old car stopped. An old woman was driving. "Can I help you young lady?" She asked from the window. "Please help me. Hello guys! This is me, author Cloe. First of all, I wanted to thank you for supporting this book. I remembered I made this way back 2017? or 2018? Anyway, this started from a very long time. As I focused on writing this, (Since I am writing in advance) I can now finalize the whole chapter of this series. The ending will be at chapter 193 plus 10-25 epilogue. As of now, I am currently writing the last three chapters.
