He could not go much further and he knows that the binder must be home. He doesn’t know what he is going to achieve by doing this. But sitting at home idle doesn’t suit him. The loss of the book has made him anxious about whether he would ever be able to perform the ritual or not. He just feels like staying close to where the binder is at the time is a good idea. Maybe some opportunity would present itself.

Carl slapped his bald head, then slurped his beer before rubbing his stomach. "I've not had a special run with women, I'm afraid. Most of them hate me because I love booze, and I can't help it. Like, can't two legends co-exist? I need booze to function, and you need me. If we move in the right direction, we're going to be creating something huge." I laughed. He made absolutely no sense. But that was Carl for you. He literally said nothing, but it was so funny because of his baldness and the stomach he had gotten from drinking too much beer.

“You’re joining us now? Or are you just here to stare?” Carl’s smirk widened. “Oh, I’m here… to observe wifey,” he said dryly, but there was a sparkle of mischief in his eyes. Ariel rolled her eyes dramatically. “Observe? Please, the last time you ‘observed’ something, you ended up causing a scandal. Everyone remember that little… incident with the coffee?” The staff burst into laughter at the reference, while Carl’s jaw tightened in mock offense. “I happen to believe that incident was entirely… misinterpreted,” he said, though the corner of his mouth betrayed a grin.

Something about her felt unsettling, something that made Eva think Elise wasn't an ordinary maid. When the front door of the Barack family house opened, Reiner entered with heavy steps. His face looked tired after a long day at the office. His suit was slightly wrinkled, indicating it had not been an easy day. "Reiner!" Eva immediately stood up from the sofa and rushed toward him. Cheerfully, she wrapped her arms around him, giving him a brief hug. Reiner stood stiffly, allowing the embrace for a moment before gently pulling away. I coughed purposely trying to bring him out of his trance. It worked on the second try. Carl said, "I never got a chance to get that body." He sounded like he was truly mortified. As if his world had somehow ended with his inability to fuck his married teacher. "I don't see how any of this helps." He blinked at me as if I had just said something unbelievable. "It doesn't, man."

Instead, I walked into silence. Carl was already there. He was sitting in his stall, slowly taping his stick "Morning, Captain," Carl said, his voice smooth and cold. You look tired. Rough night ?" The word hung in the air, a direct callback to the excuse I’d given Chloe. My stomach did a slow sickening roll. "Just focus on the drills, Carl," I said, my voice tight. I opened my locker and started pulling out my pads, my movements stiff. "Oh, I am focused," Carl replied, standing up and testing the flex of his stick. "I’ve been watching the footage from yesterday’s film review. Over and over. It’s fascinating, really. The way the camera catches things the naked eye misses."

Carl hurriedly jumped on his feet as Kelvin stretched the book to him. He opened the book as he read the contents aloud "To my Dear Carl.. I'm sure you might have gotten the news of your father's company downsizing which could be traced to me. I'm really not sorry to hurt you dear as you would always say during our nice time together. You would see I'm a bad bitch which I have actually proven to you.

His smile fade soon, but a slight ghost of a secretive smile lingers close. "That is not what you want to know. And that that you wanted to know will come to you itself. Sure he knows the book is with you." Carl explains that I'm retributed, by his words, speechless. I tend to see something in similarity with Nicklaus and Carl. They both act so different and their way of saying things—so distinct from normal.

Carl picked up the last gift and was about to open it, but Art promptly stopped him. "Why?" He laughed awkwardly, "After seeing Klaver’s gift, I’d rather you guys just open that in your own home. It’s underwhelming." "It’s the thought that counts." Carl said and untied the ribbon from the gift. It was a thriller novel from a famous author that they had talked about last time. He was so busy that he had already forgotten to purchase it. Carl smiled widely, "You remember. I haven’t read it yet. Thanks."
