“Good.” I handed him a card with a direct authorization code and no name. “Go to the labor office tomorrow. Give them this number. They’ll review your claim.”
He studied the card, suspicion and hope warred across his face. “Who are you?”
“Someone who dislikes paperwork being ignored,” I said, and walked on before he could ask more.
Marcel caught up, his eyes wide in surprise. “That code goes directly to the administrative council.”
“Yes,” I said. “They’ll be terrified, but they will know that I am on to them.”
