Keller had made her stay to closing time despite a complete dearth of customers. So now she had to go and meet her boyfriend, Bobby, who would already be celebrating. After the carnival was over they would be going, with a gang of their friends, to Tammy's Bar. She was really looking forward to the evening but she was also a little nervous because she planned tonight to go one step further with her boyfriend when she was alone with him in his car later on.

And I’m not the only one who feels this bubbling sense of excitement. Jamie’s practically skipping along, shrieking with glee as she spots the kissing booth a few feet away through a parting in the crowd. Alix is sitting behind the booth, staring forward blankly, like the survivor of some harrowing war. He has what looks like red lipstick smeared on his cheek, and based on his traumatized expression, he’s already regretting agreeing to help out. An old man dressed as a sexy fairy godmother is leaning against the kissing booth, slapping down what appears to be a $50 note as Alix’s face clouds over in absolute horror.

The carnival lights twinkled around them, casting a magical glow over the scene. Eventually, they got up and decided to explore more of the carnival. They found a photo booth and squeezed inside, making funny faces and capturing the moments on film. Gabriella laughed as Giovanni tried to fit his tall frame into the small space, their faces pressed close together. "Say cheese!" she exclaimed, clicking the button. They emerged from the booth, holding the strip of photos, their smiles wide and genuine. "We look ridiculous," Giovanni said, chuckling. "Ridiculously happy," she corrected, kissing him on the cheek.

A wave of disgust washed over me, and I retched. In the many years I had been with Shawn, he had never kissed me during our most intimate moments. He said he had germophobia, and I bought into it. The truth was that his lips were reserved for the love of his life. Picking up on the noise, the pair in the bedroom looked over. They were the ones having a rendezvous. Yet, I took cover without a second thought. I shuddered from the cold and prayed that Casey would leave soon. I waited an hour, but she didn’t seem to be going anywhere.

CHAPTER 30: The Snake Inside Vincenzo’s Pov I just stood there after the kiss. It was so stupid. I kissed her in that dark hallway. I shouldn't have done that. I'm the Don, i don’t just kiss people whenever I feel like it. I’m the boss of everything but she was right there, and she looked so mad at me for showing her off at the party. I liked that she was mad. She didn’t look scared at all. She just looked angry. I pulled away and left fast before I did anything else totally dumb.

He told her three days in advance. That was unusual. Dominic didn't plan things. He moved and she moved with him, that was the rhythm they had settled into without discussing it. So when he came home Wednesday and said "clear Friday night, just us, no phones", she filed it under notable and spent the next forty-eight hours wondering what had changed. Friday came. He took her to a place with no sign outside and a host who knew his name before he said it. Small table in the back. No guards inside two on the street, which she clocked without appearing to look. Candlelight. The kind of quiet that cost money.

I was glad to be here too. Jack leaned forward, pressing his lips against mine. This kiss wasn’t the same as the ones from the island. This was reserved and formal, but it still fanned the heat growing inside of me. He stepped back, a devilish grin spreading across his face as I flushed. The smile stayed on his face until he sat down in the large leather chair and picked up the phone. I knew that was my cue to leave, and I slipped out the door as the businessman’s mask slid over his face.

“Fi—fiancée? I’m so sorry, ma’am, I didn’t know.” I smirk before I can stop myself. “That’s fine,” Diana says calmly. Bonnie bows and exits quickly. I look at Diana. “What was that?” “What?” She feigns innocence. “You’re enjoying this.” “Maybe.” She unpacks the food. “And we should get my ring later. It’ll reduce misunderstandings.” She glances at the clock. “You have thirty minutes.” She goes back to reading. I stare at the food longer than necessary before finally eating.

The air around us seems charged with electricity and I begin to think, will he kiss me here, in front of everyone? “What is going on here?” I hear Ms. Azizen thunder as she marches into the room in a very un-ballerina-like manner. Our adoring audience scuffles into position but Adam holds my hand and raises it to his lips. Before I can let out a yelp of protest, he presses his lips to the back of my hand and staring deep into my eyes, he says, “You humble me, Gigi.” I open my mouth and close it again. I am giddy with euphoria and dizzy with love for this endearing boy standing in front of me. I wonder what he sees when he looks at me.

No matter how badly I want to rip his fucking pants off right now, I’m not that person. “It’s fine.” He softly says. His deeper-than-normal voice sounds like sex to my ear. Stepping back, I wipe my lips and glance toward his midsection. The ‘million-dollar’ kiss has created a very noticeable bulge in his pants and now I feel even more horrible. That bulge in his pants is the risk anyone takes when kissing someone. Getting turned on during a kiss does NOT mean you have to fuck them. “Is this goodbye?” He asks. His tone is curious and deep. “Or see you later?”
