Carol The Promised Neverland Novels & Stories

Would he believe me if I told him the truth now? “He g-gave it to me that day I had to sign m-my statement.” I sucked in a breath, but it broke off in a gasp as pain shot through my chest. “Obsidian, I was n-never—” “What did he promise you?” I hesitated. “That he’d pay for a trip anywhere I wanted to go.” “Off the island?” I nodded. Obsidian let out a humourless laugh that quickly died down as his lips curled back into a sneer.

As I was clearing my unread messages, I found some from Evelyn. Evelyn: Hey, Willow. I’m going abroad for my studies. I will definitely compete with you fairly. May the best woman win, Wishart. How did she know my identity? Evelyn: I saw your design sketch at the library. Sorry, my eyesight’s just too good. I couldn’t miss your signature. Evelyn: I’ve always been curious about something. What’s with the lack of confidence?

“That wasn’t a promise you could make lightly.” “I didn’t.” She studied his face, searching. “They will not approve.” “I won’t ask.” Silence stretched between them, thick with everything they were not saying. Alina stepped into the room and began to gather what little she needed. A book. A cloak. A small carved token from her childhood. Cael stood by the door, watching, heart pounding. This was how it happened, then. Not with chains. With packing. With dawn schedules. With kindness that bruised.

James thought. “I knew that you would say that. But I just want to ask for one thing.” “Sure. What is it?” “Promise me that you will think about it.” “I promise,” Carol said, even though she had no intention of fulfilling such a promise. She had to admit to herself that she would love nothing better than to carry Sebastian's child though.

I thought within me. “I'm waiting, Carol, spill it already” I kept urging her after the waitress left us. “Well, you know I was the first to be poached by the king's men, right?” “Yeah, I know that. What has that got to do with anything?” I retorted. “Hmmm, I kinda offered to get him two more cute girls that will accompany us on the trip and when they asked for pictures, I showed them my sisters pictures and they loved them so I promised to come along with them tomorrow.” She said.

Sebastian tries to console me, but I have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that won't go away. I grab my phone and dial El's number, hoping for any type of update. "When you went to the stables, was Carrot there?" I ask El once she answers. Carrot is Chia's horse. My brain has been frazzled. I assumed this was something El would have noticed or checked, but now that I'm thinking back to the door lock situation, I'm wondering if she even bothered to take notice. "Umm..." El says, the realization dawning on her as well.

Something that has been stressing her day and night were now closer to landing into her hands. She was so happy, knowing that her puppet already had them. Carol was a canning skimming woman who will do anything in this world to get what she wanted. Her problem was getting the legal documents from Ivana, her first step was already done. Thinking about it brought Joy, happiness and a little contentment in her heart. Carol was so happy that went ahead to call her son so that she can share her happiness with him.

Carter looked at her with a shocked face, and there was finally a hint of joy in his frustrated expression, "Rosalie, you're the first one to find me here." If Rosalie hadn't found him, he definitely could have sat on the lawn all night. The moment Rosalie lit the fairy wand, Carter's childish voice rang in her ear: "Stay with me every year, okay? Adults are annoying, all they care about is business." She remembered when she nodded heavily, full of joy, and promised him, "I will be around for every birthday of yours in the future." Since then, she hadn't broken her promise either. Every one of Carter's birthdays, she did not miss.

Drew murmured, and Carol cursed under her breath, shaking her head as she got up. “I’m going to get another drink; want to come with me, babe?” She asked as she stretched out her hand. I nodded, placing my hand in hers. We linked our arms together and giggled as we noticed Drew huff again. Carol was right; Drew was spoiling the mood. “Girl, I’m going to admit something to you. Promise not to laugh,” Carol whispered as she leaned in. I nodded as I looked at her, bringing the straw to my lips. “I’veneverbeenonthebeach.”
