The cart was made in the shape of a pumpkin, and there was a dog sitting in the cart. Jasper was sitting in the Rolls-Royce with the door open as he watched the show. “Slow down, are you trying to scare Unicorn to death?” The unicorn he was referring to was the husky sitting in the cart. As it only had one ear, Jasper had named it Unicorn. At the moment, Unicorn was wearing a hat and scarf, sitting in the cart filled with cushions. It occasionally squinted its eyes, looking mischievous, much like Jasper. After Jasper yelled, the two slowed down immediately. Jasper picked up his cell phone to record a video, “Unicorn, look here! Your cute and handsome dad is here!”

We’re all over the drama with her, none of us care for her. I shut my laptop slowly, almost reverently, and push up from the table. I find Colton outside by the fence, tossing feed to the horses. He’s wearing one of his many flannel shirts, sleeves rolled up, the kind that smells like cedarwood and sun. I lean against the post, watching him work. “Hey, cowboy.” He turns, brushing hair from his brow. “Hey, city girl.” I grin. “Got some news.” “Better be good,” he says, walking toward me with that lazy swagger I’ve come to love. “I just spent an hour fixing the damn chicken coop.”

“I was only joking okay. All that was just to mess with you. I’m not your mate, Gummy bear. I haven't seen you in years and I just wanted it to be like old times.” I didn't know why an unpleasant feeling curled deep in my stomach. Maybe I had really been excited at the prospect of him being my mate. Why not anyway? He was the only good person in my life. Conan stopped laughing and looked at me closely. “Hey, are you mad at me? I’m sorry, I was just trying to have fun like the old days.” I shook my head quickly. “No, of course not. But how did you do that?” I was genuinely curious because he had me there. He made me believe he had really met his mate with the usual actions of a male wolf.

I could only imagine the poor animal was shot in duress if his expression was any hint. He gave new meaning to deer in headlights, more like coon in corner. "Wow." I nodded encouragingly and held out my hands. "He's big." "Biggest coon I've ever trapped!" Another numbing back pat. "You must love hunting." It was all I had, not that I didn't appreciate the sport, you know, as long as people ate the meat and were humane, but he took his hobby to an entirely different level. Shelves were filled with pictures of hunting right along with at least ten stuffed animal heads that faced the wall right when you walked in to the expansive living room.

I bit at my lips as soon as the question escaped from my mouth. “Yes.” He observed our faces. ‘I knew it!’ I wanted to scream “By a wild beast in the woods while hunting.” He added. Was that a joke? I heard the car boot jam. A young man emerged from the back of the car, dragging an animal. I later realized they were two who aided each other to carry the supposed beast. I sighed heavily. I heard loud laughter from Cole. Did he actually find that funny? Well, I did not. “Carmilla, I am not a weakling, okay.” He looked at me.

Chris was still not convinced so Liam desperately says " Don't be so stubborn Chris, can't you even act for a few days for our future kids?" At this point, Conan who was silent for a long time gets frustrated with his human and takes control. Liam sees Chris deep brown eyes turning pitch black and hears Conan growl and say " Ignore this human, I will not allow anyone to get in the way of me having my pups, be it, my human or my mate."
