She tries insisting she does not mind waiting, but the shoppers only move farther back, smiling nervously at her.
Eventually, she glances toward Raven helplessly.
He gives her one small nod.
Just go with it.
So she does.
By the time she reaches the register, the cashier is visibly trembling.
Azzmi notices the woman’s nametag immediately.
“Take it easy, Liz,” she says gently with a small smile.
The cashier swallows hard.
“Yes, Ma’am.”
Her voice shakes.
Azzmi pulls out her black card to pay, and almost instantly she hears whispers spreading through the nearby crowd again.
