Both men wore the polished smiles of seasoned businessmen, but the tension was palpable. Cassie’s heart sank. This wasn’t going to be easy. She made her way toward them, pretending her legs weren’t trembling. “Cassie, darling,” her father said warmly, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “I was just telling Charles what a brilliant young woman you’ve become.” Cassie forced a polite smile. “Thank you, Father.” Charles Blackwood regarded her with a steely gaze. She saw the faintest twitch of disapproval in his jawline the same look Damon had described when he'd told Cassie how impossible it had been to earn his father’s approval.

Mark's POV So Cassie was cheating on me with my own father all this time? Did she think I was a complete idiot? I couldn't believe this was happening. I couldn't believe this was happening to me again. As much as I tried, I couldn't get over my asshole father; he was always in first place, frustrating my expectations.
