It shook Atticus where he stood, the very ground itself trembling from the weight of the footfall heading his way.
A single wolf remained with him. Atticus bit back a sigh. He didn’t recognise the wolf, its fur golden and its eyes sharp, but the knot in his gut told him it wasn’t one of his. When its lips pulled back from its teeth, he recognised the familiar scorn in its gaze. And, he realised, it wasn’t an it but rather a she.
