The tunnels were worse than the catacombs. Narrow, filled with pipes and electrical conduits, they pressed in from all sides. Emergency lighting cast everything in hellish red, and the air tasted of rust and decay.
Marcus led, his transformed senses navigating the maze with disturbing ease. "I can smell them," he said. "Other transformed. They've been down here."
"Failed experiments," Zephyr guessed. "The ones that didn't make it to phase one."
