She glanced back out at the hallway suspiciously, craning her neck before turning back toward me. “Sorry it’s so late. Can I come in?” I nodded without hesitation and stood aside. Catherine strode past me, moving with purpose. I closed the door behind her and then approached. She didn’t take a seat at first, choosing to linger near the window overlooking the forest.
