Nancy remembered how Catherine had noticed her, quietly trying to engage Jonathan, unaware he was focused entirely on the conference. Catherine hadn’t shown jealousy; she had been calculating. Polished, confident, persuasive even in early pregnancy, she approached Nancy after a lecture, complimenting her efficiency and the seamless way she managed the event. Something holy. But outside the library’s stained glass windows, across the street, a figure in a black hat stood watching. Catherine. If she survives.” He didn’t respond to that. He just stood there, eyes locked on hers, unreadable. Then Catherine turned, heels clicking sharply against the hardwood as she started toward the door. But before she made it to the entrance, she turned her head slightly. Her gaze drifted to the stairs. Right to where I stood. Our eyes met. She didn’t say anything. And neither did I.

But now, it just leaves me with the desire to set fire to something. When he finally leaves after practically blackmailing his old friend, I storm into my room to make some calls. Catherine leaned against a tree, her clothe was torn and clung to some part of her body, heatedly covering her nakedness. She raised her head and locked eyes with me, managing a weak smile in my direction. I walked towards her but I was halted by Dianne. Dianne? I looked at her closely and frowned to show my disappointment. She pulled Catherine into a standing position, pressing a sharp knife against her throat. “If you come one step closer, she’s gone.” Dianne threatened.

The further in she got the more rocks she stumbled over and the blinding light of the lighthouse seemed higher up now that she was so close to it. "Convel" Katherine called out. "I'm here, Convel! Convel was now less than five feet away from Katherine and her enhanced eyes caught the roll of his eyes.

“Let’s get something to eat. You like pizza, right? I hope so since you are a born New Yorker.” She laughed then and turned all the way around. “I do, but I haven’t eaten a pizza in two years.” “Well, we need to rectify that. you want to go out or order in?” She didn’t feel like going out unless she was going home. “Order in.” **** Catherine was slowly waking up. There was a slight croak in her neck. Then she realized she was being held and heavy breathing was above her. Her eyes popped open. Catherine was in Cameron’s study on the floor – no, on him.
