Iridian
Aidan’s eyes widened with the realization that I wasn’t going to move, that the friendship between us, a friendship we both thought unbreakable, was crumbling beneath the weight of this battle—a battle bigger than the one we were locked in.
The world that we had known that we had grown up in, was gone. What was left of it, the jagged pieces of debris, they were the killing blows that shattered our bond, which made us strangers.
“I’ll always fight you.” I whispered to the festering presence in my head, the very one that brought all of this horror into the world. “For the boy I grew up with…and for the stranger you’ve turned him into.”
Aidan’s blow struck true, but not in the way he’d planned.
