I for one couldn’t wait another minute and as soon as we were alone I sent word back home about the origin of the Shriekers. The day before the coronation, I explored the ‘City on a Mountain’ as it’s famously called among their kind. If you were to see the mountain from a distance, you wouldn’t realise that the peak was actually the city itself. It had no walls like the other cities in Kelor but was instead crafted into the mountain, so that its foundation was the mountain itself. The only way to get that high was to either fly or use the strange metal box that went up and down within the mountain.

Two Weeks Later Sawyers POV The annual territory meeting is tomorrow—and I’m not looking forward to it. I haven’t seen Sebastian, my twin brother, since the last one. He stays on his side of the territory. I stay on mine. It’s easier that way. He’ll show up with that booming playboy ego and his subtle snide remarks. Asshole. When we became the Alphas of Acadia Moon, we split the territory in half. I haven’t forgiven him. I don’t plan to.

Through the long, treacherous night, a heavy cloud of despair weighed upon my heart. Each step I took towards the towering castle only deepened my sense of foreboding. The vast, rugged terrain seemed to conspire against us, causing me to stumble over hidden rocks, though I was grateful that the storm had yet to unleash its full fury. The isolation I felt was palpable, seeping into my veins with every breath, as the reality of leaving our pack, our home, settled like a haunting spectre in my mind.

CHAPTER 68 – Threads of Destiny The morning air is crisp as Rowan and Azeriel leave the villages behind, their steps careful over the rocky paths that wind around the mountain’s base. The fire veins beneath the summit pulse faintly, a reminder that the Source is alive and watching. Rowan glances at Azeriel as they walk side by side. “We need to understand more,” she says. “The mountain showed us what it wanted, but that doesn’t mean the lessons are finished.”

As Cersei stepped out of her house, Aaron greeted her with a bouquet of her favorite flowers and a warm smile. Cersei couldn't help but feel excited as they made their way to the airport. Once they arrived, Aaron led her to his private jet, which was equipped with comfortable leather seats and all the amenities they could ask for. They settled into their seats, enjoying the complimentary champagne and snacks as they soared above the clouds. As they approached the resort, Cersei gazed out of the window, taking in the breathtaking views of the ocean and the lush tropical landscape. She felt like she was in a dream, and couldn't believe how lucky she was to be on this adventure with Aaron.

DARIUS’S POV The mountain safe house was a fortress of glass and cedar, perched on a jagged ridge where the wind screamed through the pines. It was the kind of place meant for hiding, but as I stepped through the door with Iris in my arms, it felt more like a cage I had built for my own obsession. She was still weak, her body light and fragile against my chest. She was wrapped in my oversized wool coat, the scent of me surrounding her, but it wasn't enough. I needed her under my skin.

The King watched, his expression unreadable. “The Serpent’s Spine,” Leigh said, pointing to a jagged, inland mountain range that ran parallel to the strait. “Here. The mountains drop to the sea in cliffs, yes. But there are old paths. Goat-herder paths, smugglers’ routes. My... my tutor once spoke of them. He was a traveler.” The lie came easily, a cover for the knowledge gained from intercepting coastal intelligence reports meant for her father. “There is one path, here, that leads down to a sea-cave. It emerges behind the largest of the likely coves, the one called the Serpent’s Maw.” The admiral stared. “The Maw is inaccessible from land. We’ve surveyed it.”

Now that Uriel was gone, to avoid the downfall of the pack, they would have to resort to something rather extreme and taboo. "Based on the sorceress' divination, this is the only option," Maria Croft, Uriel and Carlin's mother, declared. Her eyes were reddened with tears as she glared imperiously at Johanna and continued, "Carlin and Uriel are twins who share the same blood. On behalf of our ancestors, I ask that Carlin and Allison form a breeding pact to carry on Uriel's bloodline for him." The moment those words came out of Maria's mouth, all the blood drained from Johanna's face.

Lana snapped a photo of the board which marked out the various hiking trails, and off we set with Willow in the lead, Lana in the middle and me trailing behind just incase one of them slipped. Soon it became necessary for me to lead, the terrain uneven and we often had to help each other up over obstacles. It was an utter blast! At the peak of the small mountain we had climbed, we sat down and marvelled at the incredible view. It was surreal that the rolling hills in the distance were within such a short drive from the city. "Food, anyone?" I asked, pulling the backpack off my back and laying the items out, the Tupperware containers holding an assortment of fruits, snacks and bite sized fing

Elma’s scared voice took me aback. I stared back at her and was speechless. It was her! The girl from back then… It was her! “Sebastian!” She called, scared to approach me. Owwwwwwwlll! I noticed a small scratch she had on her cheek and turned around, running away from there. Jumping right off my patio and straight towards the dense forest behind our castle. Running through the forests, I was lost. Why! Why did she betray me? Does she not recognise me? Or is power important for her?
