I ran my hand along the woodwork beautifully crafted to match the rest of the apartment. "How?" The shelves were partially filled with the books that arrived from Palo Alto, as well as all the ones I'd already picked up from Columbia, with plenty of room for more. In the corner was a beautiful plush chaise lounge. The large modern light hanging above made it the perfect spot for reading. "I-I don't know what to say." Nox wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close. "Say you won't leave your school shit on the dining room table."

Max was already on his knees on the rug, peering under the table, probably searching for the snacks the universe had abstractly promised him.

The space stole my breath before he did. The bedroom was vast, almost gallery-like. Clean lines, high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows veiled with sheer curtains that softened the city lights outside. The palette was restrained but intentional, shades of ivory, slate, and deep blue, accented with sculptural art pieces that looked expensive enough to be untouchable. At the center of it all sat a massive blue cushioned chaise, positioned like a throne rather than furniture. He lounged there with ease, legs crossed, wine glass still in hand, perfectly at home in excess.

A part of me wondered if they were actually painted with real gold. In the right-hand corner of the room there was a fireplace and a black velvet Victorian style chaise lounge with golden stitching and legs. I could see a golden blanket draped over the back. The fire crackling in the fireplace was burning golden flames. I wasn't sure how that was possible, but it did match the room.

Ava The main lounge was less a room and more a cult designed to make you forget about the outside world. The first thing that hit me was the light—beyond the spiral of white leather stairs, the whole far wall was just glass, black water on three sides and city lights already fading to memory behind us. The floor ran in long, unbroken planks of pale teak, and every piece of furniture was some wild experiment in luxury: velvet divans in silvery blue, a coffee table that looked like it had been carved out of a single agate, and, as the centerpiece, a bed so enormous and obscene I wondered if it came standard on the Satan Model yacht or if Levi had paid extra.

"I want these two autograph chairs in the pool area," suggested Danica, pointing to an item on an iPad, which displayed an in-pool luxury lounger to Kael. They were shopping for appliances from a trusted supplier. Kael turned his attention to the space around the pool before examining the chair Danica intended to place there. "Hmmm... I'd like those as well, but is there enough space in the pool area? Since the poolside is narrow, what I had in mind was something simpler, yet still elegant, like cozy reclining chairs or pillows for visitors to unwind," replied Kael.

I paused my hand mid-lather as I put the lotion back, a silent invitation for him to continue digging his own grave. "That chaise lounge," he continued, "is exactly four feet and six inches long. I bit the inside of my cheek hard to keep the smile in.

"Deal." With his stamp of approval, we continue our tour until we finally make our way outside to the backyard. The pavilion-style lounge area is easily one of my favorite parts of the house. Majestic columns support an elegant, draped canopy of sheer, flowing curtains, the soft breeze making them flutter lightly. A large crystal chandelier hangs in the center, glimmering in the afternoon light. Beneath it, a circular marble fire pit serves as the focal point of the space. Ornate wrought-iron sofas with gold and white cushions are arranged symmetrically around it, making it the perfect spot to unwind.
