The carpet was sea green, the couches were covered in apricot cut velvet with poppy-red cushions and the occasional tables were enamelled black. A magnificent Chinese cabinet in black-and-gold lacquer dominated one wall and on another a marvellous, almost full-length abstract painting took pride of place and brought a bouquet of beautiful, swirling colours to the room. ‘Hello, Alex,’ a voice said behind her, and she turned to see Max Goodwin stroll into the lounge.

On his right was a complete set of white chaise sofas with throw pillows of various colors and a purple, three seater, camel back couch that was completely out of place. Something told him it was his master's throne, afterall, it was purple. He nearly rolled his eyes. Facing the set of chairs was a brown coffee table placed against the wall with a set of sound systems arranged on it. On the wall above it was a very large TV. On each side of the TV was a shelf shaped like a huge cat lying on the ground. The selves housed different kinds of totems, figurines, seashells and other things Ben couldn't identify at a glance.

A luxurious chandelier hung low above the high roof of the living room and beautiful, rare pieces of art and artifacts graced various parts of the wall. The leather chairs arranged in a square below the chandelier were obviously custom made, the prints were a unique design and the shape was akin to those chairs that help one's posture. One one corner of the couches laid a button signifying a massage feature. Noble and elegant. The elevator stopped on the fourth floor and they were brought to an entrance covered entirely with brown wood, both the walls and the floor. White lights illuminated the path. Ruben strode comfortably towards the door with a silvery knob and pushed it open.

Downstairs in the Parlor Jayla and Jasmine settled into the plush, oversized couches on the other side of the parlor-the room dimly lit by the soft glow of an enormous flat-screen mounted on the wall. The parlor could have easily been the cover in one of those modern design magazines: sleek, minimalistic furniture with soft textures of blankets and cushions draped across the room. Large windows lined the walls revealing a magnificent view of the city's twinkling lights far out in the distance.

The floor was white marble veined with the palest gold, covered partially by a plush white rug so thick my toes had sunk into it when I had fallen. Against one wall stood an antique white dresser with gold hardware that looked like it belonged back at the Palace, topped with fresh white roses in a crystal vase. Against another was a white velvet chaise lounge positioned perfectly to look out the windows, which overlooked what appeared to be private gardens. There was a sitting area with white armchairs around a small fireplace with a white marble mantle. Bookshelves built into the wall, painted white, already filled with books. A desk in the corner by the window, also white with gold accents

It was quiet and spacious. “Your suite,” I said as he quietly pulled away, taking his warmth and heady presence with him. Mr Voss stepped in, taking my hand and leading me inside the space almost as large as his office. The air inside here was cozy, with faint notes of sandalwood and something else. I took it all in a stunned glance. The golden, crystal-like chandelier, the small wine cabinet, and the velvety chaise lounge in the centre of it “Do all members of Goshen get private lounges like this?” I asked, turning around to where mr Voss stood.

“Take your time. You’re not expected to do anything tonight.” Aria nodded, though her hands were starting to tremble. The woman pushed the curtain aside, and Aria stepped through. The Lounge was… breathtaking. Soft golden lighting bathed the room, chandeliers hanging from a high ceiling that arched like an old cathedral. Velvet couches and armchairs were arranged in intimate circles, people scattered among them like artwork, so damn beautiful, quiet, and dangerous. Some wore masks. Others didn’t. Most held drinks. A few held bodies.
