Vorare was a sorcerer prodigy who dabbled with death when the old sorcery was still pure. Charollet rubbed her wrists, relief and confusion coursing through her. “Where are we going?” Charollet asked. “To him,” Vora said. “He… needs to see you. Now.” Charollet’s heart pounded. “Should I talk to him?” she asked. Vora touched her arm. “You have to. He needs to know what you know. He needs a reason not to kill you.” Charollet nodded, swallowing hard. Their footsteps echoed along deserted corridors, torchlight flickering across memory-worn walls. They stopped before Kade’s strategy room. Two guards stepped aside, bowing. Kade stood inside, arms folded, staring down at the maps spread across the table.

He chuckles. It’s my turn to have a little fun, so taking a page out of my mother’s book, I grab the cactus and shove it down the rogue’s throat. He gags, splutters, and screams around the prickly little bastard before I rip it out, making sure to tear as much of his esophagus as possible. He screams in agony as the glochids, or the short little prickles, lodge in his throat. “What do you want with Juniper!?” I shout again.

But somehow, he showed up on the camera, or whatever means through which we were seeing them on a wall that was not a wall. “So what are you going to do to us?” Char asked quietly. “Correct the mistake, then you can go back to your little world,” Nasos reassured in a voice that was decidedly not reassuring. Char’s face went ashen and Ru exploded. “You can’t erase our minds! How dare you contemplate such a horrible thing?” “We’re not erasing all your memories, only the aspects about the vamps and us and anything supernatural.” “Including the knowledge that Jo is a witch,” Char added in a low tone.

Below her stretched a wasteland of ash and bone, and in the center stood herself. But not as she was. This version of Veyra wore armor laced with moonstone and obsidian, her white hair braided with threads of silver and blood. Her eyes—once warm—were cold as frozen rivers. Around her feet, a circle of bodies bled into the scorched earth. She recognized them all. Zarek. Zevi. Lioren. Rune. Dead. The Veyra of this vision knelt beside them, placing kisses to their brows before standing to face the storm. Fire raged in the skies. Wolves howled in agony. Nyros loomed above the horizon, his shadow stretching like a crown of smoke.

It seemed like he was provoking the man even more, as his teeth gritted and he threw a punch at Daniel. Daniel quickly dodged it, but then the other vampires rushed toward him. There were six of them in the room and more outside. I didn't know if Daniel could handle all of them, as he seemed to be struggling already, having taken down only four so far. I couldn't help him; I was taken aback by their strength and the brutality with which they killed each other. They acted like wild beasts, tearing and snapping each other's necks. Dust filled the air as heads were severed, the quickest way to kill creatures like them.

Victor said, kissing the side of his Omega's face tenderly, which was still growling. “Mine!” Charlie growled when he smelled Arthur's stench on his mate's shoulder. He glared at the Alpha before rubbing his scent there, removing the stupid Alpha's stench from his mate. He had a mind to jump down and bite the stupid Alpha for even joking about liking his mate. Victor is his, and his only! “MINE!” Charlie growls louder, fighting the urge to bite Arthur. “Damn! Do I need to be concerned? He's not going to attack me, is he?” Arthur asked as he took a few more steps away.

Did one of the slaves try to poison it or something? Can Vampires even be poisoned? "Khloe." I sat up straighter at the sound of my name. Turning my head up a bit, I spoke. "Yes, Master?" My eyes widened a bit as he held the fork in front of my face. "Try this and tell me if it tastes weird to you." He wanted me to try some of his meal? I haven't seen any of the other pets do that. What if it really is poisoned? Regardless of that, I obeyed.
