The second they turned the corner, Thess was on the gate.

“This one.” I pulled Black Court: Lineage and Rise from its pedestal. The second it left, the pedestal glowed red. My heart stuttered. I shoved the book into my enchanted satchel, and the glow died instantly. “Ward breaker charm works. Good.”
