Abigail asked. "Being pretty can be a skill too," Xander replied.

"I said—stay away from Alec. He is MY mate. MY Alpha. Not yours." Silence. I just stared. Her eyes twitched, clearly annoyed that I wasn’t reacting. "He chose me," she continued, her voice rising with every word. "Do you hear that? He chose ME over you. He’s done it before and he will always choose me. Always." I exhaled slowly, but still said nothing. Amanda’s jaw tightened. She wanted a reaction. She wanted me to cry, she wanted me to break, she wanted to feel stronger than me.
