"And let me tell you, they make the best seafood chowder."
Without further ado, Alex placed an order for a steaming bowl of chowder. To my surprise, the first spoonful was good. The rich, creamy broth, brimming with succulent seafood, soothed my unsettled stomach, coaxing out an appetite I didn't know I had.
"This is delicious,"
"See?" Alex said, his eyes twinkling with satisfaction. "Just what you needed."
We fell into a comfortable conversation, Alex entertaining me with stories of his early days learning the culinary arts under Tony's watchful eye. As I listened, a strange sense of peace settled over me.
