Christian cleared his throat behind me, and I felt his eyes on Lucien like twin daggers. He crossed his arms, half-smile curling at one corner of his mouth.
“Oh, I love a good ancestral scandal,” he drawled.
“Nothing says ‘family bonding’ like a blood‑oath you only remembered yesterday.”
Lucien’s nostrils flared. “You would mock a debt you’re not part of.”
Christian shrugged. “Mockery is my second language. But please, continue. I’m dying to see how you twist history in your favor.”
