Gulping, Zander stared at the three heads torn apart from the bodies lying in the dark slime, the only thing recognizable in the room. The skulls were getting disintegrated. Slowly burning, going down, submerging in the acid like black substance. And he gulps. Daring, he lifts his eyes to look at the source of all this chaos. The girl who stood in the center of the slime with her head lowered, her wet hair veiling her face. The skin he was kissing and caressing a few hours ago was pale, white as a ghost. The worn out hoodie she wore every day was red with blood. Torn from places like someone tried to force her.

Blake and Mukgu looked at her at the same time and stopped their talking. “What? Danger?!” Mukgu and Blake asked in unison. Chichi then approached Mukgu by running to her. Jackson shakes his head and slowly shifts back to his wolf. He is in feral form, and I am in human form. We turned in a circle, looking into each other's eyes. When Jackson lunges at me, screaming that he's going to rip me apart, I only partially shift my hand and bury it in Jackson's chest, taking advantage of his momentum. I felt my hand break into Jackson's ribs and gripping his heart, I ripped it out, and lift it into the air, blood running down my arm as I looked into Jackson's startled eyes. He looks at his still beating heart in my hand, then at the hole in his chest, and finally at me. He drops to his knees.

Her eyes were fixed on Chuck, though, and when I turned to look at him, he had stopped mid-shift. Once the shifting process starts, it’s tough to stop in the middle of it. Though she put on a brave face and looked like she knew what she was doing, I knew she was terrified of screwing up.

I still could not look at his face. The coffee looked ordinary, but that was the worst part. It wasn’t just coffee; it wasn't just a steaming mug. But I had seen the way Celeste looked at him when she offered it. I had watched him pause. He seems about to say more, perhaps scold him, but Bucky holds up his hand to silence Jay before he can say more. Chuckling, Bucky shakes his head and motions towards me with a vague gesture. “She isn’t one thing or another, but two things. She has the blood of a werewolf and the blood of a witch. A half-blood. Did neither of you know that?” He asks, tilting his head to one side.
