I ignored her. "Dra...gon?" I furrowed my eyebrows. "Dragon?" I gasped in realization. Of all the people I know back in the Magical world, Sage is the only one that could control a dragon. He had gone deep into the forbidden black magic to be entrusted with the power to control dragons. I looked up and saw another maid run in. The lady kept looking backwards as she run in. I watched her bump into a couch. "Careful." I half yelled but it was too late. She had fallen down but her fall didn't stop her. She shifted backwards continuously as she stared at the door.

“I know this is going to be hard to believe, Grayson, but those wolves are our neighbors.” Her eyebrows raised, and she stared at me for a long time, not blinking before she said, “Say what now?” “I know it’s hard to wrap your mind around. Just like the fact that you just saw me shoot a fireball out of my hand. But it’s true. They are shifters. And I’m a mage.” “A what?” she asked, wrinkling her face up at me. “A mage. As their formation was disrupted and their backline breached, the victor was already determined. It was astonishing to see them remain disciplined, barking instructions and commands to each other while plotting their course of attack. The mages quickly retreated backwards, exposing their backs to my summon, but it appears they have decided I am a greater threat. An enormous circle, a magic circle, appears above the heads of the mages. It was rotating rapidly, pulling everything towards it, and even their noble knights were having trouble keeping balance. There was such a strong disruption that even I was affected.

A cluttered table was pushed into the far corner, next to a old mantle and a large old mirror, covered with a drape so that only the bottom left corner reflected in the light. A large design was painted in white on the floor. The circles and sigils looked familiar, like the ones from my summoning spell. When we got to the bottom of the stairs, I knelt down and held a hand out over the painted lines. Power pulsed from them, sending the waves out and through me like a tidal wave. I looked out across the designs on the floored. They weren't like the ones in my circles. They were the designs. The exact same sigils, in fact.
