Emma turned, her hands trembling, the voice seemed familiar, tugging at the edges of her memory, but the swirling haze made it impossible to see. Her coworkers knew her as a quiet, efficient, and fiercely organized accountant, not as a werewolf on the run.

They are led to the throne room where the queen of the witches sits. A woman steps forward and approaches the group. “Hello Rex, welcome back and who are they? So I can introduce them to the queen? All bow lightly out of respect for the queen.

Another one named Jeremy came in with a bright smile. He was a beautiful lad. He had orange hair, brown bright gazes…. Why does Landon have such beautiful people around him? Are they actually his friends? They seem like individuals from rich families and he seemed a lot happier around them. He came to me with a handshake. “Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I stepped into the car without a word and the door closed softly behind me. As the vehicle pulled into traffic, I turned my gaze toward the window. The city lights reflected across the glass as buildings slid past one after another. Everywhere I looked, there were people. Thousands of them, maybe millions. Music drifting through open doors. Somewhere out there… Ember could be walking these streets. Breathing this air… living somewhere within this endless sea of strangers. I clenched my hand slightly against my knee. I would find her, no matter how long it took. No matter how deep this city tried to hide her.
