“Yes, sir,” Clara said quickly, nodding. “But—” she protested.
Allen’s lips curved slightly. “Good. Start immediately.”
They walked together toward his office, but before they could enter, a maid came rushing down the hall, her steps hurried and her breath short.
“Sir!” she called. “There’s someone at the art gallery asking to see you. They said it’s important.”
Allen frowned. “Who?”
“I–I’m not sure, sir. They didn’t say. But they’re waiting by the main exhibition room.”
