I noticed the way Daniel paused, like he didn’t expect her to agree so easily.
“I’ll come too,” I said.
Clara looked at me.
“You don’t have to,” she said.
“I know,” I replied. “I want to.”
She held my gaze for a moment.
Then she nodded.
“Alright.”
Maya leaned back in her chair. “Wow. Look at this. Family outing.”
“Don’t start,” Clara muttered.
“I’m just saying,” Maya continued, grinning. “Progress.”
I shook my head, but I was smiling.
Because she wasn’t wrong.
