“You don’t regret it, do you? Because I don’t.”
His tone didn’t shift much, but there was something in his face. The usual unreadable calm was still there, but it was thinner now, like he was bracing for something.
“No,” I said, rubbing a hand over my face. “It’s not that. It’s just… it was completely unprofessional. I’m your doctor.”
He leaned back against the counter, arms crossed. “We came out here to build chemistry. That counts, doesn’t it?”
Noah tilted his mug toward me, smiling. “If it’s teamwork we were after, I think we crushed it.”
