Cloaked Novels & Stories

“Nothing, but there is a glitch in the feed around the time when we all would have been getting back from the celebration. Watch.” He pulls up the feed and plays it for me and if I didn’t know to look for it, I never would have seen it. In the bottom right corner is a small flash of what looks like static, but with a shimmer. No interference I have everseen has ever shown as a shimmer. “Someone used magic to cloak themselves?” “Yep, and obviously doesn’t care about having to reset the little dream bundle as often as needed because of their cloak. I did talk to Gentry this morning while you were training…”

the cloaked man replied to the eager blonde. The blonde man picked up the bag and handed a bundle of cash to the cloaked figure. The cloaked man replied, "I recognize you as a friend of the one who murdered and imprisoned my associates. However, since you are a customer, I will let this slide. Drew and I have unfinished business; he has been seeking revenge for something that occurred twelve years ago, something he cannot seem to forget." This statement intrigued the blonde man, prompting him to inquire, "What is this matter you refer to?" The cloaked man, however,

"I didn't come here to be saved." I turned, adjusting the dark leather bracers at my wrists. My cloak, stitched by the mountain witches themselves, shimmered faintly with their protective runes. A fair price. "Did the witches deliver what I asked?" I asked. Kael nodded and handed me a small obsidian vial. "Cloaking oil. Masked scent, no trace, no echo. You'll be a shadow in the dark." I pulled the stopper and inhaled deeply. It burned my senses, carving through my lungs like smoke. Perfect.

They didn't need flashlights; they were the light in a world that had tried for too long to keep them buried in the dark. "The entrance is hidden beneath the salt flat," Jade noted, her voice trembling not with fear, but with a raw, jagged defiance. She pointed toward a slight, unnatural shimmer in the moonlight. "Refractive cloaking. Typical Julian. He always loved the theater of power more than the reality of it. He wanted to be a god, but he’s just a fraud hiding in a hole."

“Hope death doesn’t scare you?” Caelyn does not seem to be joking from the seriousness in his voice and deadly glint in his eyes. Jarvis told him to fuck off with a laugh before returning to his post. Feeling that boredom kick in, I allowed my eyes roam the whole club. Is that Syn? Syn is seated in the middle of two armored men who are dressed in the garment of the Russian royal guards. Not everyone knows this but Ezryold already explained the secret attire of the Russian family that Khalys is linked to.

Seeing them still frozen in place, I thought maybe it didn’t suit their taste, so I held out the half-cooked piece in my hand. "Want it cooked instead?" The three of them flinched violently. "N-No…" Zephyr Noct, the blind priest, suddenly dropped to one knee, his voice dry. "You are the noble Alpha Female. This prey is your trophy. By the rules, we must wait until you have finished eating completely before we are allowed to take what remains." I frowned. "What kind of bullshit rule is that?" Without hesitation, I tossed the meat straight into their arms. They scrambled to catch it, then froze again, unsure what to do.

There, barely visible in the blue light, stood a figure dressed in a dark cloak. Motionless. Watching. Marcus immediately raised his pistol. “Show yourself.” The figure didn’t move. Instead, a familiar voice echoed through the chamber. “You’ve come farther than I expected.” Claire’s expression hardened. “The Raven.” The cloaked figure inclined his head. “You’ve been chasing the wrong journal.” Amelia frowned. “You stole Nathaniel Ashcroft’s confession.” “I borrowed it.” “Why?” The Raven took one slow step into the light. His face remained hidden beneath a smooth black mask shaped like the head of a raven.

I crossed the room. “Who?” “No one.” I frowned. “That is not how decoys work.” “We use the cloak.” Understanding came. During the ceremony, the front rows would be partially shadowed beneath old stone arches. An Ironclaw ceremonial cloak placed over the right build could fool someone watching from above or through a tunnel for several seconds. Enough to expose movement. “Darius?” I asked. “No.” “Why?” “He is too broad.” “That is insulting.” “To him, perhaps.” “You?”

NOTE: KEEP THE SLIDING PAPER ON THE PAGE. Logan’s brows furrowed and he flipped the next page. More entries and detailed experiences coated the paper and more popped up as she had flipped through the pages. Terra scrunched her eyebrows in concentration as she reached the final page. Covering the next page, a pocket slid up and down the design to keep anyone from seeing it all in one glance. Terra was using this pattern to put people in a coma.

I completed my dressing with the dragon stone necklace after putting on the cloak round my neck. I remembered how Richard and Bryon had suddenly turn invisible the first time I met as Kedar brought in the cloak. "A magical cloak?" I asked when I saw the ominous dark looking cloak. Richard had explained that his cloak made them invisible to the eyes of people. "What?" She shot an are - you - crazy look at me. "Why do you humans take magic as some sort of game you can always toy with?" She spoke as if he wasn't on of us humans. "This is a normal cloak, it goes well with that dress of yours." She had bluntly explained before walking out the door.
