Every time you pull away, every time you don’t look at me, it pulls me deeper into this. I need you to notice. I need you to feel it too. But you don’t. And I don’t know how much longer I can take it.

I close my eyes, turning inward. The bond responds immediately — not with words, but sensation. Weight settling. Friction easing. Heat redistributing instead of concentrating. “Proximity,” I say slowly. “Grounding. Consistency.” His voice is rougher when he answers. “Meaning?” I open my eyes. “Meaning when you’re close, it stabilizes. When you’re not, everything stacks.” A long pause. “This isn’t desire,” he says carefully. “No,” I agree. “But it feels… intimate.”

He dropped to his knees beside me, trembling hands hovering over my body. Tears spilled down his face, landing warm against my cold skin. A warmth that was so tender, but arrived far too late.
