Bailey POV Orion considers the spread thoughtfully for a minute, the hesitation making me anxious. “ Come on, I'm dying of anticipation.” I jab at him and he smiles then points to a tray next to me. "Definitely the croissants. I like all three varieties. The cinnamon rolls are a must and the honey lavender scones are unique enough to be a signature item. And these…" he holds up one of the chocolate chip cookies, "...are perfect. Don't change a thing about them."

I sneakily hug her from behind. “Hey, mom,” I said. “Oh! Darling, you’re already awake!” “Uhh, yea. What are you making?” “Just some cordon blue and cookies for breakfast.” The oven dings, indicating that it is done cooking. “wait a minute, dear. I’ll just take it off from the oven.” She takes it out from the oven and the smell of cookies surrounded our home. The cookies are cooked to perfection in heart and star shapes. “wow! That smells delicious!”

He tells her. She lets out a squeal and does a little dance in her seat. I call it her happy food dance. I look around, and everyone is smiling at her. There is a sealed dish on her tray with something in it. She squeals again when she opens it. There are four large cookies with some type of cream in the middle. Nate asks Ms Amy what they are. I know for a fact that Ms Amy has just made a new best friend. The cookies themselves are chocolate mocha with raspberry almond cream filling. She pops the top back on and starts eating. I hear a growl, and we look over. Tyler is trying to get himself a cookie.

He shook his head, his mind most likely flitting back to his injury and the physical therapy appointments he absolutely loathed going to. Grandma flitted out of the kitchen a couple seconds later, her soft-black hair twisted into a bun on her head. The plate clinked against the glass-top table, turning it smoky from the steam. Tiny buds of lavender dotted the tops of the cookies, coupling with the specks of vanilla bean to form a beautiful pattern. “Claire’s asked me to bake a few things for the University’s bake-sale fundraiser.” Grandma smiled proudly, her apron speckled with hints of brown sugar and flour.

She hated being ignored. "Ih, what the hell is she doing?" Clairy snapped to herself as Renata walked past her with her coffee cup. Without realizing it, Auntie had arranged all the ingredients to make cookies. Clairy was going to make chocolate-flavored cookies. Simple ingredients, but quite delicious. In fact, it didn't even need to take an hour. She had successfully created the first batch of cookies with a chocolate and cheese topping. "Already done. Finally," Clairy muttered happily. “Well… minus the stupid stuff.” He laughs. “You contributed to some of that.” I grin. “Touché.” As Clover hands me her box, I pause.. “Oh my God… you’ve popped.” She laughs, rubbing her belly. “Every day I wake up, it’s like the baby gained two pounds overnight.” We all laugh as we head toward the brunch area. Clover immediately starts grazing. “Mmm… this is good. Are these mini quiches?” “Yes,” I say proudly. “Spinach and ham.”

Perla had set up coffee and home-baked goods on her old outdoor furniture under a majestic umbrella of a Hazel tree. Light green heart-shaped leaves and dangling cylindrical flower clusters hang like party serpentines around them. "So, Nueva, you must wonder what this fuss going on is all about?" Perla asked and placed a plate with homemade Lavender Shortbread cookies on the weathered table surface. Nueva couldn't resist the beautiful aroma of dried lavender and helped herself to a cookie straight away. The shortbread was buttery and lightly sweet, with a floral flavour, the edges were rolled in sugar, and Nueva licked the gritty substance of her lips and nodded yes to Perla.

It was a crazy combination that would probably make them have stomach aches but they were willing to risk it. “I know you're thinking about your cookies. Put the dough in the fridge and come let's go. You don't even have to change.” Hailey looked at what she was wearing - a crop top and hight waist jeans - and shook her head. She wasn't crazy to go out like that. But she didn't say anything until she had properly sealed the cookie though in a clim film - a transparent leather like material thst stuck to each other when joined - and put it in refrigerator.

A gentle knock on the door interrupted our laughter, and Chloe's mom opened the door. "Mom! Must you always intrude?" Chloe asked, feigning annoyance. "I'm sorry, honey, but I'm sure you girls are hungry," she said, placing a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies on the table. "No, Mom, we're not," Chloe insisted.Well...I really do want to try those cookies" I said, unable to resist. Mrs. Flora laughed "Go ahead, I know you love them," she said with a knowing smile. I eagerly took a bite of a cookie, savoring the warm, gooey chocolate.

“Are you heading out?” “No? I came looking for you.” “I need to do another tray of these cookies,” she says. “I’m almost out up front, and they’re a popular seller.” “Cookies,” I say, pinning her with a look. “Cookies,” she replies. “Cranberry macadamia nut with white chocolate. You can try one when they come out of the oven if you want.” Autumn makes a show of evenly spacing each scoop of cookie dough, giving it all her focus like it’s the most important thing she’s ever done. She’s obviously trying to pretend everything is fine, acting cheerful and light, but she still won’t look at me.
